Thanks Ally. I'm glad you're going. I've never met anyone who didn't have a great safari experience. Looking forward to what you get.

I love it and think your post processing works brilliantly. A small nik is the overlapping of the two plants, but it's only a nit. As to photographing dragonflies, I agree with Ann, particularly when in flight. I'd use 3200 as a minimum. When sitting, you can go as slow as you can handhold unless there is wind. I also agree about getting the eye, which usually has a lot of color. But in this image, I don't think it matters. |

I agree with Judith and Ann and love that red eye. I think I'd adjust the horizontal a bit, as it looks like it's tilted down to the right and might go with more of a 3:2 crop as there is a lot of space around the grebe. I like it. |

I was going to make the point Ann made in her comment. It also cuts off the grass at a point which I find a bit distracting. On the other hand, it takes a calm gentle image and adds some tension which might be what you were going after. I was thinking it might be fun to make a mirror image and have the grass be growing both up and down, but I know, that's a bit crazy. |

Nice creative angle and approach. I like it. My very subjective suggestions: The feathers on the original look sharp to me, although I couldn't zoom in very much to confirm. They look soft to me on your processed version, possibly as a result of the denoise you did with Topaz. I almost always use Topaz as a local adjustment, either using the tools in the program to apply the effects where I want them, or using it on a separate layer and masking out as needed. Also, I'd add some more space on the right side as the lovely beak, which together with the eye do appear sharp, is leading me out of the frame. |

Nice predation shot, which I am partial to. I like how you handled the contrast in the original image which brings out the gull's eye nicely. I might remove the grass behind the bird's head, which is only slightly distracting so it's not a big deal. Your call. You probably didn't have the option but a lower camera angle would might have provided a better background. I only mention it because some photographers aren't aware of how powerful a lower angle can be. Nice photo! |

Very lovely and I think you're treatment of it is masterful. My only suggestion would be a custom vignette and I think I'd boost the yellow tones of the butterfly a bit. It's so nice to have such a perfect specimen. Great job. |

Thanks so much. Judith, yes, I think the "sunflower" is his tail.
