52 Jun 24 Reply Thanks for the explanation. I'd probably still adjust it so the plants look vertical. I think the eye is a bit soft. Jun 8th
52 Jun 24 Comment It's a rare treat to see the Gray Ghost. It's my understanding that some of the females I see are actually juvenile males who will later turn gray. To my eye the first impression is that the horizon is off. Both the plants and the background look off. Fortunately, that's an easy fix if you agree. The bird does look a bit soft to me. I teach birds in flight photography and recommend no slower than 1/1600 on the shutter speed for a bird this size and faster if light allows. They don't flap their wings a lot but are relatively fast fliers. Soft or not, it's still a prize. Jun 5th
52 Jun 24 Comment What a beautiful bird. I think it's eavesdropping on the goings on inside the tree, the sneaky devil. I can't think of any suggestions and like it just as it is. Jun 5th
52 Jun 24 Comment Terrific composition and subject. The light doesn't come across to me as just after sunrise, and seems very contrasty to my eye. I think I would try to tone down the white on the bird's belly and see if you can bring out any more detail in the dark areas of the bird. I might also crop a bit off the top. Jun 5th
52 Jun 24 Comment Very nice and I also think you've captured his temperament. I might crop it tight, just the head which I think would have more impact. Nice job. Jun 5th
52 Jun 24 Comment I think this is wonderful Sharon. I admire all of the post processing and can't suggest much. I might burn in the unopened bud that are in the light a slight bit and I'd vignette a bit stronger by brushing it in. Terrific image of a perfect specimen. I love the sweep of the tail. Jun 5th
52 Jun 24 Comment Thanks Ally. I agree with you and thought about removing the owl in the back, or adding the portion that was chopped off but it kind of grew on me. I wouldn't call this anything close to fine art but more of a descriptive image of life at the nest. That said, I find it distracting too. Jun 5th
