I think somewhere between your edit and mine would be the sweet spot. the greens on my monitor still seem off to me, but I my edit now looks too dark to my eye. Of course, besides being subjective the calibration of the monitor could have something to do with it. Also, I think you added a vignette or it appears to me to be a bit too obvious. If you used an automatic vignette on one program or another, I would suggest making a custom vignette.
I usually make a dark curves layer and then mask it out in various opacities to taste. |

Thanks. Good suggestion Pam. I usually crop to 4 x 5 as it looks better on social media, particularly Instagram. But I agree, a pano would work better here. |

I always look forward to what you are going to create next. When I see an abstract of a seahorse, or maybe a caterpillar in the blossoms. As usual, very interesting. I like your crop and post processing and don't have anything to add. |

What a pretty bird. I've never seen one. Nice pose. My only suggestion would be to reduce the highlights more in the background and possibly on the bird itself. |

I've only seen pictures of these guys and would love the opportunity to photograph one. I like the scene and the flower but I'm distracted by the wing blur. I tried making an aggressive crop and isolating the flower and head of the moth. I selected the flower and moth and added a touch of saturation and texture, then selected the background and reduced the saturation and exposure a bit. |

Beautiful shot of this guy, and I love the pose. My suggestions would be to burn in the background a bit and the dirt pile that he is standing on. I would also add a blur to the background which would help draw more attention the the Killdeer. I like how sharp the eye and face are which pulls me right into the image. |

To answer your question, yes, I think your image has a strong story that comes through clearly. Given such challenging conditions you did a great job and your shutter speed stopped the movement of the foliage perfectly. In general, I like your post processing but on my monitor the colors look a bit off. Mayabe too much blue in the green of the vegetation and a bit too flat. Maybe try leaving the color and just adjusting luminance. I took a shot at it and came up with what I've submitted. Without going into PS, where I might have played with a few filters and added a vignette, I just selected the birds and adjusted the highlights and whites, then reversed teh selection and reduced the exposure and texture of the background. I'd probably play with it some more in PS if it were mine and definitely add a vignette. |
