I love how creative you are, as you have demonstrated here. I'll echo the others comments. Pixel peeping at bit, I see some halo around parts of the insect that I don't see in the original. I think you could easily mask those out. My only suggestion would be to apply some fairly aggressive localized sharpening the the head of the bug. It appears softer than the body. I think it could be done very selectively, particularly to the outer edges of the eyes.
Nice work Judith! |

You're in my wheelhouse and I love it. I shoot osprey often and you've done a stellar job. I love the texture and richness of the feathers. I do agree with a bit of dodging around the beak, as suggested by Ann. I might also add a very slight vignette and maybe bring back in a bit of the sky detail that I see in the original.
I also like your thought on how you expose in camera. I do the same, leaving some amount of space on the right side of the histogram. I also like to shoot from my kayak and know the challenges that it imposes, which you clearly overcame to get this shot. Bravo |

Nice work! I agree with the crop suggested by the others. One other thought would be to do a localized blur to take out of focus a limited portion of the flower, above and a bit away from the bee, leaving only the bee and the flower that its on in sharp focus. I think it would help draw the viewer to the star of the show and not the flower. |

Just plain wonderful. I agree with everyone's comments. Great job. I also admire your watermark, very artistic. I can't think of a think I would change. |

I love it and would have cropped it as you did. To me, bringing me into the drama makes the image much more powerful. Removing the trees on the right of the original I think is a plus and I like the way the outcropping of the rock takes on more prominence in the cropped version. I'd have to see it in B & W but suspect that I'd like this one better. The gentle hues of yellow are wonderful to my eye. My only suggestion would be to try to bring out more detail in the water, maybe brushing in a bit of clarity in a few areas using Lightroom or whatever tools you use. That said, I wouldn't go overboard as you might lose the wonderful misty feel your image generates. |

Terrific image Sharon. I won't repeat what has already been said. On the flipping issue, I like to look at them both ways and if it looks better from left to right, as if more often does than not, it also allows me to put my watermark on the lower left, where I like it. I don't like when the action leads toward my water mark so will almost often move it off the lower left if the action goes from right to left.
My only addition would be compositional. I think I would rotate the image a bit counterclockwise. this would give a nice diagonal to the scene and open up the space on the right side a bit, to in my humble opinion better balance the subject and the flowers and reduce some of the negative space along the top. Leaving in the color there would also add to that effect.

Thanks Judith. What I saw was obvious I love your vision to see even more.
