Thanks everyone. Very good comments from everyone. One great benefit of this group is that it brings me much better context to see my own work, often clouded by my attachment to an image or how much effort it took to make. Seeing it through another honest reviewer's eyes is very helpful. Take care, Mike

I like this a lot. It's definitely not my normal taste but you pulled it off wonderfully. All the complexity contributes to the image which I find beautiful and intriguing. |

You did a great job pulling out the color and tonality from the original. The fence post directly behind the bird is bothersome to my eye and my bias is toward either natural settings, or something that itself would make a nice subject, like a bell or pretty structure. I like that the fish framed by the frame of the bird and might crop in really tight to just show that portion of the image. |

Very pretty birds and I like the background as well. I agree with Judith on the sky and a very slight vignette. Being one who believes that all things are a go, I might consider taking a slice out of the middle and having the birds closer to one another and cropped in tighter to show off their beauty. |

The flower is beautiful. However, I'm also bothered by the complexity of the scene. My taste favors simplicity so this image may just not be up my alley. Regarding processing, you could limit your focus stacking to just the flowers and follow Judith's suggestions regarding the background. I'd also suggest, if possible, darkening the leaves behind the flower which tend to draw my eye away from the flower. |

I like both the original and your rendition of the scene. However, I like the composition of the original a bit better. I like the framing, although I might process the log so that it wasn't many tones darker than other parts of the scene. I also like the length of the path shown in the original. That said, I like your interpretation as well. |

I love the composition. Such a beautiful scene. I'd like to see it rendered with a lighter luminosity. I like the original sky. I'd suggest selective dodging and burning to bring out even more the textures and beauty of the scene, both in the clouds and the ridges and valleys. The image is definitely worth spending some time with as I think it has a lot to offer. |
