Great job Judith. I might crop in a bit to emphasize the bird's great expression. |

Thanks Tom. I'm going to get back into the original with your comment in mind and see what I think. Good stuff. And, yes, 2019 was a banner year for me. I've already apologized to my son for diminishing his inheritance. |

Thanks Judith. Knowing the subject sometimes makes it harder to see it objectively, so it really helps to have pointed out that the head is hard to see. I have some others where that is not the case making that feedback very helpful. Thanks to you and Lisa for pointing that out, as well as the other feedback.
I was standing on a cliff, behind where they were landing. Sometimes they would fly by but I liked the shots as they were coming in to land. Their head was down as they were braking looking for a spot to squeeze into between the other birds. |

Thanks Sharon. I love Topaz. I think it's added a stop or more to my ISO it does such a good job. That said, I only use it on my high ISO images. I don't use Define so I can't really make a comparison. But I generally use Noiseware which I think it terrific but Topaz blows it away. They offer a trial version. On key, turn off automatic updates of the preview so you can move the image around without it having to re-render the preview. It was very slow at first but, at least on my computer, it takes about 15 seconds to render. Still slow but worth it. |

That's exactly what I had in mind. Maybe sliding to the left a bit to keep in more of the leaves. |

I like the version concentrating on the main tree! I thank the tree is the star of the show. |

I love the subjects. Makes me smile. I also like the concept of removing the distracting objects. As Pamela pointed out, however, the artifacts left by the removal I think ruins the image. That said, I think you can fix this in PS. The area where the birds were removed are in focus relative to the sand immediately adjacent. I would make a new layer and clone in some of the adjacent area into the area in focus. I might also paint in some blur attempting to make the areas that replaced the birds look like all the other background near them. I would also crop in on the left as there are some tail feather sticking into the image. Even a tight crop might work here, concentrating on the fun expressions of the birds. |

Very nice. I particularly like the dark background, that removes any distractions. the color of the fish is delightful as is the eye contact. I agree with Pamela, but I would only add a touch. |

I like the color contrast between the blue water and warm trees. If the original or another exposure has a bit more water I think that may improve the image. |

Very pretty scene with lovely colors. I do think the composition could be stronger. I'm not sure what to look at and thought it might work better as a vertical with some dodging and burning to draw the viewer down the path in the back. |

What a great snake. If you don't mind, what wildlife refuge? I like the composition a lot and the snake facing the heron is terrific. I'm a bit distracted by the background. I might paint in some desaturation and blur or negative clarity and/or reduce the luminance of the background. If possible, I would dodge a bit on the bird's neck and snake's belly. Welcome to our group Pamela! |

I like this image a lot but was going to raise the same points as Pamela. I might also suggest a partial vignette, darkening the trees and further lead the view down the river, and maybe a bit in the lower right corner as well. |
