It's hard to tell from our low resolution samples but the camera may have focused on the twigs in front of the hawk causing some lack of detail in the feathers as behind the plane of focus. I like the seed pods but, unfortunately, to me they distract from the subject. I also don't care for the twigs passing in front of the bird. That said, it's an interesting composition with the bird's head in the open and great eye contact. Because I get so many opportunities that many of you don't, I can afford to be more picky. |

I again agree with the others comments. However, the subject matter is so good I would spend some time playing to see what you can come up with. Maybe go abstract with some wilder effects. I did a fast sloppy black and white, attempting to darken and blur the grass and lighten the animals just to give you an idea. |

I agree with everyone and like the second version a lot better. There may be a bit too much contrast for my taste on some of the logs but that's a nit pik. The low angle is interesting.

I like this one a lot. I might have left a little more room in the crop, although I like the impact of upclose, possible because you captured the bee so sharply. The right side bothers me a bit, as the flower is clipped. I'd either crop more in on that side or more out.
As far as the artifacts, there are a lot of ways to handle it. Try duplicating the layer and use a brush larger than you might otherwise use, with the clone tool, and brush in the cloning at a lower, say 30% opacity, changing brush sizes as you go. You could also put a blur layer over the image with a black filled mask, so the effect wouldn't show. With a low opacity brush paint with white on the mask to reveal the effect in the areas desired. |

I like this image as it is so animated. I agree with the others comments. I particularly like the fact that you caught it mid call and the fluffy feathers. |

Thanks everyone. Sharon, I think I used one of the recipes in Silver Efex but I'm not sure. Is radiance one of the sliders in that app or are you referring to something else?
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night! |
