Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
40 Aug 19 Comment Hi Andrew. I'm a visitor from group 52. I love this image. Very sweet story of love. I've read and agree with the other comments about the trees and lightening up mom's face. I'm not bothered by the existence of the trees as much as from their brightness, but if was my image, I might remove them and compare how I liked it. My suggestions would be to tone down both the vibrance and luminosity of the green grass, which comes across as very loud on my monitor. I might add a slight blur to the bottom foreground and see how a slight vignette looks as well. These are all nitpicks given your super strong subject and story appeal. Aug 19th

52 Aug 19 Reply Thanks Judith. I just got my computer back and was able to check. I used my main camera body, a Sony a9, which is ideal for flying birds, my Sony 400mm taken at f/2.8, 1/3200sec, ISO 1600. There is often white skies here in south Florida. This snag is one of my favorites for Whistling Ducks. It's located at Green Cay Wetlands, in Boynton Beach, Floria. It was a morning shot, facing west with the sun and wind at my back, just the way I like it. I'd say the distance is about 75'.

Thanks for your nice comments,

Mike

52 Aug 19 Reply Not sure why that went twice. Using zIpad with periodic WiFi maybe. Thanks for the reply. Going for the hard subjects is fun. Aug 10th
52 Aug 19 Comment I like the scene, the background and composition of the flower relative to the butterfly. It looks to me, however, that the camera caught the front of the flower to focus on. In scenes like this, it often helps (but is very hard) to use singl point focus and try to grab the butterfly. Aug 9th

52 Aug 19 Comment I like this one a lot too. I like the dark bordering background and the unworldliness of the scene. Very alien looking. Well done. Aug 9th
52 Aug 19 Comment I also like the bird's scream. I would probably crop a bit at the top and lighten up the shadows a bit. If your crop took something off the bottom, I would add a little space so that the object on the ground isn't cut off.

52 Aug 19 Comment I thought this was a family forum! :)

Brilliant shot. This is a prize winner for sure. Nothing but raves from me.

52 Aug 19 Comment The colors and position of the butterfly on the flower are wonderful. I agree with Judith's comments. I might leave in the top stem, as I like how it frames the subject, but clone out the leaves on the lower left.

I think with your current crop the image would be more dynamic with less space to the left of the subject, to take it off center.

I have to say that the image looks a bit out of focus which may have been accentuated by the crop.

52 Aug 19 Comment An immediate wow factor for this lovely image. I didn't notice the blotches and they don't detract for me. But if they do for Judith they probably would for others. I love the warm light on the background and birds head. It is at one with its environment. Really nice. Aug 9th
