I like what you saw here. Seems oriental to me. The one wing out seems a little weird. I'm undecided if I like it or not. I didn't care for the crop. See if you like my crop, which made it a vertical and I tilted a little. I might tilt it a bit more which would require adding some canvas and filling it in with content aware. |

Great shot Tom. The perfect Valentine pose and no distracting photo bombers, often the case at the rookery. Well done. My only suggestion, which is very likely the difference between my monitor and yours, is the color on my screen on the body of the herons is a bit purple. Congrats!

I like this one very much. The orange and greens go so well together and the separation between the subject and background is lovely. If I were to change anything, and I'm not sure I would, I'd remove the lower two branches of the plant. I might leave them for balance but would look at it both way and see which I liked better. Very nice John. Great job on achieving tack sharp focus on a difficult subject. |

Very pretty and I like your crop. The flower is a perfect specimen and lovely. It looks like the whites could be brightened up a bit, as they look a little darker than they should and darker than the original. There are also some very small black marks, probably dirt, on a couple of the leaves that I would remove. I played with it a bit and applied a curve which added contrast, increasing the whites and reducing the shadows for a quick fix. I also removed the little spots I mentioned. |

My eye goes right to the main subject, the bird's eye and bill. It's also a very pretty bird and scene. Unfortunately, for me, I'm distracted by the branch which is very prominent in the scene. I may be more impacted by that than others because, as a bird shooter, I'm always trying to avoid having the bird behind the perch, as shown here. Very well could be my bias. My initial reaction was that the image is a bit soft, except where it counts most, on the eye and bill. |

This is outstanding Sharon. Big initial wow factor. The colors pop off the image. The shape of the bird and posture is also fantastic. I like the lack of context, responding to your description. I think it makes the image more artistic and powerful. I particularly like the perfectly oval shape of the duck's chest and belly. Bravo. (I also like your new? signature.) |
