I forgot to add that I also like the composition, with the bird in the lower right looking toward our left. |

I like this image and immediately thought of Thanksgiving or a Christmas card. My mind wend the opposite direction than John and Sharon with regard to the whites. It could be a monitor calibration difference but they did not look blown out to me. To try something different I sent the image to PS and reduced the dehaze to lighten up everything but the bird and took off some clarity, masking out the effect on the bird. After that I added some sharpening. |

I like it. It is so unusual that it stands out nicely from the crowd of Osprey pictures I often see. There's a horror commedy aspect that I like about the story told in this image. It's like the nest mates just can't believe what's going on here.
I also think the colors, especially blue, are too intense for my taste and would adjust them to a slight degree.
Well done! |

You got my bucket list shot! Congrats. I agree with all the above but gave a go at treating it with my style of processing. I felt the horizon was a bit tilted, so I straightened it to my eye. I then worked a bit on brightening the bird's eye, just a bit. I then used Shadows/Highlights in PS to adjust the contrast on the surface of the water and used Nik'd Tonal Contrast to boost the blacks of the bird's feathers, and raised highlights there as well. Great job on a tough subject. |

I agreed with everyone's comments. I like the little planet-like ball and the fresh one reminds me of a universe. It might be fun to save the little ball ("planet") and put a few of them around the image, or maybe one in the center of the bloom? It would be a project but is doable in my opinion. I took a quick hand at it and darkened and desaturated the green. I thought the background was distracting and wanted to reduce its impact. I burned in around the flower and added some dehaze in LR to bring out the the detail. |

Who doesn't like beautiful reflections! It's beautiful. I didn't notice the yellow until I read your description. Having read that I looked back and might suggest adjusting the color on the mountains, which generally would have a bluish color cast and not a yellow. That is, if you're after a realistic approach. If not, the yellow looks good to me.
I don't think I would add a vignette in this case. I wouldn't want to darken the foreground water or sky. I would do a bit of dodging and burning, burning in or darkening some of the trees. In the midground, it looks like the light is coming from the right. But the foreground light appears as if it's coming from behind you, the south. It may have actually been like that but I'd darken the groups of trees on either side of the water and let the reflection be the star of the show. Nice job! |

Wonderful image Sharon. There's an ethereal quality to it I cannot describe in words. I love the separation of the subjects from the background and know just how hard that is to accomplish at a rookery. The only suggestions I can offer would be to very slightly lighten Mom's eye. I also think I would reduce the amount of vignetting. I like to vignette where it is not noticable at all, but that is my taste. Great job. |

Thanks everyone. Just back from a trip so I'll be looking and commenting today. Thanks for your comments. I see a typo in the settings, It was only 1/8000 of a second :).
After I cropped the bottom, the shadow, which I also liked, looked a bit weird to me. (I'm guessing that was my thought process as I have forgotten.) I did work on the halo's but apparently didn't do a good job. Good point out. I also thought at the time about the angles. I should have repositioned and tried that angle as well to compare later. Thanks. |
