Gorgeous bird Judy. My best guess is that it's a Cooper's Hawk, although the "Chaps" seem more prominent than shown in the pictures I checked. He may have been hunting something in the grass but missed it. I like the head angle and crop. The only suggestion I have might be to lighten up some of the shadows which look a bit blocked up along the edge of the wing. |

Thanks guys. I posed it on my facebook page which you can find here: https://www.facebook.com/mykeysnaturephotography/
Very exciting for me as this was a once in a lifetime experience and I still get the thrill every time I think of it.

I'm jealous! Too lazy to shoot it I just enjoyed the partial from Florida. I love the red and the glare you captured on the right corner and the clouds add a nice contest to the image. That red is really cool! Nice job Tom |

Nice scene and nicely titled John. I see a bit of glow over the treetops and I'm wondering if it was caused or exaggerated by the de-hazing. Easy to check with a before/after. If you use LR, just by moving the slider. It also looks like the blue is deeper on the viewer's left side and that the tops of the trees are a bit darker, suggesting another side effect of the de-haze. Is that a moon in that section? |

I think you nailed the exposure. I'm a bit bothered by the shadow across his face and the angle of his body. Although my eyes aren't sharp enough to see it, as the aperture closes down refraction increases and reduces the sharpness of an image. That said, it looks sharp to me. I'm just sharing that I only use f/22 when I have to.

Good job. As far as what a judge would think about the reflection, it's hard to say. It didn't bother me but I did wonder how it would have looked with the full reflection. Good luck if you submit it. |

Very nice Sharon. I like the addition of the blue filter but might reduce its effect in the shadow areas of the bird. Just slightly. I might also compare it before/after the filter or with a more sky or eggshell blue hue. It's very monitor dependent but on my screen the color has a great deal of green in it. I'd also reduce the highlights a bit, at least in the area between and in front of the wings. I like your crop and agree with you on the body position and action. Wonderful wing positions. |
