This is such a serene and lovely image, Brad! I love how the color and the texture of the clouds is echoed in the rocks. The tree really balances the distant rock formations, as well as being the main focal point for me.
The egret feels a bit disconnected from the rest of the scene for me. I'd personally consider having it look at the tree to make a connection. I'd also consider a levels correction or adding a bit of contrast to those incredible colors. |

What a wonderful image, Alan! I love the energy of the flying cards, and how random they feel - each with its own angle and size and twist. This is a remarkably balanced composition with so many moving parts. I think the slots for the cards to disappear into is a very clever idea. Well done! |

Wow, this is such a fabulous image, Maria! I love the colors and the motion of the dancers' skirts set inside the wonderful architecture and reflections. It's as if I can hear the music and their shoes on the street. Your composition is exquisite, with the arches and lights bringing my eye to the dancers, then going up the center to enjoy that imposing facade, and coming back to the joyful dancers.
Personally, I like having the interaction of the dancer on the right with the dancer behind her. I think the brown light at the top center adds a painterly feel.
I like the idea of the frame, but it doesn't feel entirely intentional to me because I can't see it at the bottom of the image, and it's irregular (not straight) across the top. Personally, I would make it more opaque. That's just a very small suggestion, though, because I had to really look closely to even notice those things.

I think this is a lovely image, Kirsti. I love the intensity of the musician's gaze and the careful gesture of her fingers. The crystals feel very three dimensional to me, with their clear highlights and shadows. I really like how you turned the teardrop shape into floating balls. I think you did a great job with the hair, which I know is very challenging.
I like the sepia tone because it gives me a sort of timeless feel about the image.
I did wonder whether adding back in just a touch of color might distinguish the musician from the background, as well add something to the crystal notes. Here's what I was thinking. |

Thanks, Kirsti!
I wasn't actually thinking of the wave as a threat, but you've made some really interesting suggestions. I'll play around with it. There may be another image in this for me. |

Thanks very much, Maria!
Your suggestion about softening the line between the wave and the foreground is an excellent one. Thanks for pointing that out!
I also appreciate your interpretation of the giant wave as being dangerous. It's interesting to me because I didn't think of it that way - I envisioned it more as the people sailing on calm seas imagining wind and waves. But I see that that isn't the way anyone else is seeing it.
If nothing else, I think I need to retitle it. |
