54 Dec 25 Reply Thanks, Kirsti! Your story actually helps me like that version more, as it gives ... well, not a happy ending, but a satisfying one.
Happy new year!

54 Dec 25 Comment I think this is really a brilliant image, Alan! The composition is so beautifully balanced, and the ghostly figures of the woman and the boy have just the right transparency to my eye. I love how they are such ordinary people and yet seem so at home in the fine art on the wall. The man in the painting in the far room makes me long to peek into that room to see him standing in front of the painting.
I really like the angle of the doorway into that room. I found your choice of the angle of the bottom of the molding just to the right of the man's painting to be interesting - it's different than the top of the molding but also not the same as the wall on which the painting is hung. I wasn't sure whether that was intentional to enhance the surreal feeling, or if it was there for another reason.

54 Dec 25 Comment This is a truly remarkable image, Maria! You have really brought your subjects to life. I love the detail and depth of this image, and the movement I imagine in the coils of the dragon. I think the fog and the hillside provide a great setting for this epic battle. The monochrome coloring makes me feel as if I'm seeing this by moonlight. Very cool!

I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I suspect the use of the emboss filter made the fellow look a bit flat. It's a tool I'm enjoying playing around with lately, but that's a side effect I'll keep an eye on. I appreciate your perceptive feedback. Thanks!

54 Dec 25 Reply Thanks, Brad!
Having a little distance from creation, I do agree with you. To be honest, this is another image where I fell in love with the colors and let that drive the image. I've played around with it to address your comments (my earlier versions certainly didn't). I think this one may tell the story better but I don't think I like it as well. I'm going to give it a little time and distance and revisit it.
In any case, thank you for your thoughtful comments!

54 Dec 25 Comment What a fun image, Brad! The campfire is placed perfectly, and I love the addition of the lake with the stars' reflections. That starry sky is amazing.
I really like your new constellation. Personally, I might consider a bit less brightness there.
