Thanks, Matt!
I'm going to give some thought to your suggestion about varying the grain effect with distance. I have several other sand pictures I want to composite and that's something worth keeping in mind. Thanks! |

I love your landscape in this image, Brad. The fog is so soft, and I love the way it dissipates as the stars are revealed. The coloring is magnificent. The horizontal lines of the bushes and the fence give me such a feeling of peace. There's a great feeling of depth and layers in the setting. I think having the color fade out towards the foreground enhances the feeling of depth.
I understand why you added the bird but for me its energy seems out of sync with this incredibly peaceful scene. I wish it was an owl sitting on a stump, or maybe a cow or horse with its head tilted inquisitively towards the hill. Just a thought.

What a wonderful subterranean world you have created, Maria! The light leaks and the aqua color really give me the feeling of sunshine through rippling water. The face on the lady looks mummified, and her dress fits in perfectly with the setting. I love your color palette.
I really like the aqua arc of light going from her feet to the window. For me, it would work even better if the image was reversed, because then it would lead to her rather than away. Just a thought. |

This is a very haunting (or maybe haunted?) image, Kirsti. The green plant is so vibrant against the debris on the floor. I like the way it's growing over your ghostly feet. The crack in the mirror is an excellent addition - it really gave me a feeling of unreality.
I took Matt's idea of adding green by creating a layer with blur=>average, then putting that layer in color mode and masking out most of the plant, with a lessened opacity on the floor. I was trying to give the mirror portion a little more ghostly effect. What do you think? |

Wow! What a fun image - this is so cool, Matt!
I love the colors. The red leading lines really draw my eye up to the mesmerizing ghost, and there are so many great patterns to lead my eye around the image. The solid red ceiling leads my eye to the wider wall and gives a nice sense of depth. I think you did a masterly job of adjusting the colors - I feel a sense of balance and exhilaration throughout the image. I think the use of red as a framework is very effective.
Personally, I'd consider cropping a bit off the top, but that's just my personal preference. |
