Thanks, Kirsti!
What a fun idea of this being the doorway to Slytherin! |

Thanks, Brad! I've never seen the Hunger Games movies, so I can't quite envision what you are suggesting, but I love the flames idea. |

This is really beautiful, Brad! I love the bird basking in the golden rays. I think the rays being softened works really well, because I feel their effects but am not distracted by them. The composition is excellent, with the bird hovering high within the frame. I love the luminosity of the background just behind the bird. All of the colors work well together, and the city in the background with its layer of clouds add to the image, because I feel as if the bird is rising above them. So appropriate for hope!
One tiny little nit, - the city seems to be sinking at the left. If that's not an artistic choice, perhaps a straighter horizon might be worth considering. (I hate to even mention it, because I love this image so much). |

This feels very powerful to me, Alan. The leading lines of the tracks, the solitary mysterious figure, and the giant moon rising in the mist - it all works extremely well together. I particularly like your choice to compose it off-center - I think it's stronger that way. I'm not sure if it's because it's unexpected or because it's more dynamic, but it definitely works for me. Very cool image!
Thanks for the details about using the Color Lookup layer. I've never thought of using it on a b&w image; I've only done it on a color image before converting to b&w. Thanks for the tip on using it after a b&w conversion as well. |

Wow, Maria, you have really created an amazing fantasy image here!
The dragon is amazing - I can almost feel the heat coming with all that smoke. The of the tail is really beautiful, as is the detail of the dragon's scales.
I think you've really handled the lighting wonderfully here, drawing my eye from the dragon through the smoke to the fleeing girl.
All of the colors combine into a beautiful palette. I think the girl's red cloak is just the right shade to highlight her and make her part of the image.
I have two suggestions. One is that you might consider making the girl a little smaller (to make the dragon appear larger). The second addresses Alan's comment - it's possible to make the girl's cloak appear less modern by using the Liquify tool in a few strokes to create folds in the material. Just a thought. |

Very eerie, Kirsti! The tree really stands out amongst all the green leafy trees around it, both because of the starkness of the leafless branches as well as the purplish luminosity. I love the way it practically glows; I can well believe that it projected a menacing presence.
I like how the glow around the people ties into the color of the tree. I think making them indistinct works well here. Personally, I'd consider reducing their opacity a little.
I played with the contrast and think I prefer it the way you have it.
I agree with Alan that having children there in the adults' place would increase the sense of danger, if that's what you want. Your title makes me think that perhaps the ghostly people are more inclined to help the tree than be frightened.

Very clever, Aavo! This is a great idea that's well executed. I really like how your hand acts as a leading line to the nice sharp picture on the phone, and how the position of the phone is exactly what I'd expect to see against the background of your foggy bridge.
I especially like the little glare on the screen of the phone just above your thumb.
So fun! This really made me smile. |
