Such a thought-provoking image, Brad!
I like the versions with a simple background, but personally I prefer the one with the landscape. I really like how the landscape is gritty and desaturated on the left and softer and golden in front of the false face. For me, it 's like putting on a public face and viewing the world accordingly, or at least not speaking of the grimmer view that might be felt underneath.
I love the way you have captured his face from the exact same angle so that the mask will fit perfectly over his face. The brim of the hat becoming the edge of the mask is brilliant - it feels as if it will fall smoothly around his neck.
Since I like the landscape background so much, I would personally consider doing a levels adjustment and then a Hue/Saturation layer at +8 to enhance the temperature difference between the left and right sides. But that's just me. |

Such a cheerful and summery image, Alan! I love the colors and the graphic nature of it. The variety of the clothing and poses works really well, especially with some of the models facing away from the viewer. It gives me a sense of life and freedom of movement which is a nice counterpoint to their being mannequins.
The arc of the shadows really works for me, as does their elongated shapes.
They feel as if they are all leaning just a bit to the left to me. I don't know if that was your intent. |

Such a charming little house! I love how it just fits in between the trees, with a clear space in front.
Personally, I love the frog and single butterfly in Kirsti's version. The little house looks much too interesting to just sit there - I feel something magical would naturally be happening around it.
You did a wonderful job transforming the forest into a winter wonderland.
I feel the house is a little too distinct, given the soft tones of the trees and their soft focus. I reduced clarity and texture on the house in this version, and added brightness to the house to further soften the details.
I'd love to read a fairy tale about this image. |

Kirsti, this image tells such a wonderful story, letting everyone fill in the details they imagine.
I think your ghost on the road looks very ethereal now. Personally, I like her position in the most recent version. For me, it makes the road part of the story, and my eye moves from the ghost on the road to the one on the hill to the road below and around again.
The blue part of the sky doesn't add anything for me here; the dusky colors by the ghosts tell the story that the ghosts come out as the daylight is fading. I like Alan's crop.
You might get some comment that the ghost on the road is leaving the image as if that is a bad thing, but for me it's an interesting and important part of the story. Especially because this way the ghost on the hill may be watching her go. |

Aavo, I really love the way you have embraced Monet in this image. The flowers are gorgeous and feel very much on theme, as do the adorable little girl and the woman's frilly dress and lace umbrella. The colors are beautiful.
I like the way you placed the dog, the girl, and the woman in a triangle to help my eye move around the image, and have the arc of the flowers to bring me back to center.
Personally, I usually decrease the opacity of painterly filters on people's faces. I did that on the attached, just on the eyes, nose and mouth of the girl, and on the whole face of the woman. What do you think?

Thank you Maria!
I hadn't noticed the bits of light before but I will definitely fix those now.
I see now they are all over the background. I think it's an artifact of the Topaz filter. Thanks for pointing them out. |

Thank you, Brad!
You made me laugh - I don't think I ever saw the Pixar lamp and Little Shop of Horrors in the same sentence before. I'm a big fan of both. |
