54 May 22 Reply Thanks, Brad!
Yes, when I went to post it on Instagram I decided it was too high key and increased the blacks on my mystery woman. It's my new favorite version. I hope, I think I'm done...

54 May 22 Comment I really like this image, Brad. Using the bird for the pollination is very clever; it opens this up beyond the literal. I love the use of small flowers to simulate pollen.
I have a new appreciation for your flower images after spending the last several weeks trying to come up with an interesting flower shot for my camera club's competition.
Personally, I really like having an out of focus flower at the right. The glowing blur may be a flower, but maybe it's the sun, or a fantasy doorway to another world.

I personally would crop out the second flower at the far right.
And I agree with Alan about scattering the pollen.

54 May 22 Comment This is a very interesting image, Alan. The composition is beautifully balanced. Such a magnificent sky! The tired horse and wagon and the modest house make an interesting contrast.
The HDR effect of the foreground gives it a stylized, unique feeling that, as Aavo says, is very 3D. I think it works very well.

At first I thought to suggest adding a color cast to the foreground due to the sunrise, but I tried it and I think it's much better the way you have done it.

54 May 22 Comment This is a beautiful image, Maria. I love the sky and the softness of the water, which almost feels like the clouds. I like the colorful houses. The osprey is a great image, and you have scaled it very realistically.

For me, right now the image feels as if it has 2 halves - the right side is nature, the left side is about what humans have built. Maybe that is what you intended. For me, it feels a little uncomfortable. Personally, I would either crop about 10% from either the left or the right, or consider moving the osprey. It just feels more balanced that way to me.

54 May 22 Comment Such a beautiful sky, Aavo, and I love the reflections in the water. I like how you have the animals coming to show respect to the elephant rather than the lion. I think you have done a good job with the lighting on the backlit animals - we can see enough detail to be interesting, but not lit as in daylight. I think it's often hard to have a magnificent sky that doesn't overwhelm the subject, but you have handled that beautifully here.
I think Brad and Alan have made good suggestions.

54 May 22 Comment I still wasn't happy with modifying what I had, so I started over. I like this one best of all. I was so enamored of the ICM shot that I wanted to keep all of the details, but it turned out that for me the mysterious, misty trip into the woods is what I like best. At the moment. ;0) May 15th
54 May 22 Comment Thanks, Brad. I like the idea of trying different colors. This one has sort of an eerie feel. May 15th
54 May 22 Reply Thanks, Aavo! I think it does work better. I can see that the contrast of the trees to the backlight is just too stark for me in the image I originally posted. May 15th
54 May 22 Reply Thanks, Alan. Interesting suggestions! I tried some different things along those lines to follow up. This was the one I liked best. May 12th
