Interesting suggestions, Brad!
I originally shot the model this way because I was going to put her in a boat, changing the leaves of the trees on the bank as she passed. It didn't work the way I wanted.
But your ideas made me think about desaturating some of the image, something like the attached. I don't think it works quite right with this image, but something I am going to play around with for a similar image. Thanks! |

Thanks, Peter!
I agree, those very light areas distract me too. Good suggestion, thanks! |

I know what you mean about fall being so brief. I guess I need to think of it like a sunset, to enjoy it while it lasts. And then I have the first snow to look forward to. ;0) |

I agree, having the tree there adds to the realism. I think it also gives a dynamic sort of balance, which makes it more interesting. |

Welcome to Group 54 Peter!
You have created a very appealing image. I can almost feel the sun on my shoulders. I love the colors and how enticing the winding path is.
I like how you added the plants along the right side of the path, with a hint of symmetry to the plants we see on the left.
My only suggestion is that I would expect the path to appear a bit wider right at the bottom of the image, since it is closer to me there. |

This is very cool, Brad!
Great composition, with the three subjects and the contoured lines. I think the observer holds his own, despite being so small, since he is in color. I like your addition of the clouds.
All those great lines would make me want to play with various filters - emboss in Lighter color mode, or maybe a Topaz glow. Just a thought. |

This is quite a unique image!
I think you are right in that adding something else would detract from this image. I love the asymmetry of the fellow in the hoop in such a symmetric setting. The colors all work together well. It's fun to imagine what comes next - did they open the doors so he could roll in, or is he just passing by?
Thanks for the lesson on tone mapping!
I wouldn't change anything on this image. |

This is a beautiful image, Maria!
It has a soft, painterly feeling to me. Everything seems to belong in this image. I really love the colors and what you've done with the textures. I think the birds flying across the sky, mimicking the shape of the land below, was a masterly touch.
I feel as if the tree is crowding the house a bit. I personally would consider moving it the right just a little bit. |

This made me laugh, Kathy!
Beautifully put together. I really like the texture, and the way you applied it on the background but not the hawks. The colors all work so well together.
It's a little darker than I might choose, but I think it works with the vintage look you have given it.
Personally, I might consider cropping a tad off the bottom and right hand side, but that's just a personal preference. |

A very timely image, and such a fun idea.
Great exposure. I like the way you show only parts of the pumpkins on the edge, suggesting that there are plenty of pumpkins outside the frame.
I think it's clever, having the orange on Mother Nature's hand; that's how my hand always ends up looking when I paint.
I wish I could see more of her arm, and maybe only have the paint going part way up the brush's bristles. It would make it easier for me to read the story you are telling here. |
