Thanks, Kathy!
Yes, I like the idea of the ghosts themselves swirling. Great suggestion! |

That's a great suggestion, Maria. If the cat was standing on a rocky cliff, the ghosts could be swirling up from the chasm below.
Yes, now that you mention it, it is a bit odd to have the cat floating. |

That's great, Aavo - I did intend it to mean that.
I like your suggestions for a place setting. I think they would tell more of a story.
Happy Halloween! |

Here you go, Brad.
Now that you mention it, I think the background could have a better feeling of depth if it shaded to black.
I have to admit, this image was just for fun, not one I particularly want to develop. |

A very somber and thought-provoking image. The magnificent sky feels ominous to me.
The large boat sunk into the dry riverbed tells me that this was once a mighty river, and the skeleton makes it clear that the well is now dry. I feel the loss of the life-giving water.
I feel as if the image is sort of split in half, with the sky as one dominant entity and the lower half a separate entity, where my eye moves around the four objects.
As much as I love the sky, I think the message for me might be stronger if the canvas area was dominated by the drought portion of the image. |

I really like the concept of this image, Brad. That's such a great capture of the bee, and it's a great flower too. The sky is spectacular and definitely adds to the image.
I have to admit that the addition of the dog's face was too subtle for me; until I read your description I thought the bee's face was just out of focus.
I too like Maria's version.
My only suggestion is that the land part of the background is a little distracting to me in your version (it's less apparent in Maria's version). I might consider having only the starry sky behind the flower.

This is a wonderful image, Maria! The colors work so well together. I love the composition; my eye moves right to left to right to left to left - just like that gently winding path that brings me back to the cabin.
I think the car really makes this image. It's so wonderfully decrepit, and the colors are a lovely bright spot, subtly echoed by the flowers. |

I love this image. The colors work so well together. And such a great model, definitely looking the part, in a great pose.
I really like your composition. The fire in the background draws my eye just enough to look there after the foreground, and complete the story.
I agree that the moon on the right would be a good balance.
Building on what Maria mentioned about looking more like a night scene, I tried a levels adjustment on your image, just moving the center slider to make it darker. Maybe that's not the look you want.

Great concept and great composition, Aavo! I think it's really effective to have the subjects in opposite corners, with the storm clouds and crashing wave in all that space between them. The expressions on their faces really work.
I don't have any suggestions to add to the ones already made. |
