I think your instincts are excellent, Brad, and you are wise to trust them. |

Such a beautiful flower! I love the ultra-rich colors and the light.
It's a little sad for me that the flower is bending away from the light. Perhaps I'll be an optimist and imagine it's going to turn around. |

And now I know the name of that odd looking fruit. ;0) |

Thanks, Aavo! The tail is my favorite part.
I've got to say that I didn't think making it darker would help, but a touch lower exposure really helps sell the fog. Thanks! |

Thank you, Alan!
I keep going back and forth about that rock. I think it's one of those things I just have to keep looking at in order to make up my mind.
I've never tried fog brushes before. I will give them a try. |

I love the textures and colors of this image, punctuated by the sharpness of the human eye. It feels to me as if I could touch it and feel a soft fuzziness, which is a great contrast to the subject (which I don't feel like petting at all!).
I really like how the vertical lines by the mouth almost look like they are stitching it closed, but then the mouth is open at the tip.
Personally, I like some greenery in the background, but perhaps a bit less than what you chose here. |

A poignant image, Brad.
I quite like the desaturated flower with the hint of color in the middle, especially since it echoes the color of the beaks of those lovely birds. The texture of the petals go well with the wing feathers without distracting. That closed-in center feels to me as if a time for something is now over and done. So it works for me on both an artistic level as well as that emotional tug as a parent in seeing a child going off on their own.
You might consider an alternative to showing all the birds in their entirety. A little less opacity, a little less of the body...

For me, there's a real quality here of that mystery and hyper-awareness I feel when walking the streets in the early morning. I like how the cone of light from the streetlight is echoed in the triangle formed by the men and the corner of the building. I think the whole image works very well indeed.
Thank you very much for the detailed explanation of your process and the tutorial! |

Very imaginative!
I really like the way you have taken the threat away from the wolf and put it on the pigs themselves. The filter you applied gives a very appropriate storybook feeling to the image.
Fabulous sky! A sad and frightening cause, but pretty fabulous for this image to have the roiling grey clouds with the hint of flame at the mountaintop,
Personally, I would consider masking out a bit of the filter on the signs to make them easier to read, and darken those glorious golden trees a little to keep the focus on the foreground. |

I quite like this, Aavo. It made me laugh, and it's got a very straightforward composition that I enjoy very much.
The colors are great, especially the yellow of the umbrella and the boat.
Personally, I would have angled the umbrella towards the boat, or put the man on the left and the boat on the right. But that's a minor consideration for me. Thanks for a smile-inspiring image! |

This is what it's like without the fog. I also removed the rock on the lower right in the final version because I felt it threw the balance of the composition off a bit. |
