Thanks for your thoughtful comments. I can easily visualize what you are suggesting, and I especially like how you remind us all that this is Kathy's creation. I hope you come visit us again. |

By the way, I really enjoyed your article on creating composites in this month's PSA journal. Very well written! |

What a marvelous room! I love the textures on the walls and the directional lines contrasting with the drifted sand. Your addition of the man and the door really draws my eye in. I never would have thought to add a urinal on the wall but it just looks so right.
The line to the right of the doorway surprised me. It seems like something one might want to clone out, but I think it adds to the surreal balance of the image.
It was interesting to see your earlier version. Like Brad, I feel that the table and chair distract me a little. Without them, there is a line of objects, with something there my eye would travel in a circle. Perhaps a different object might be interesting - like a hand reaching up from the sand. |

This is going to sound pretty tame after Betty's suggestion...
Great composition. I like how the white of the wave is balanced diagonally with the bright orange jumpsuit. I think your colors work extremely well - the stormy color of the waves, the abundant life of the green plants, and the anonymous, artificial orange of that poor lone fellow trying to fix things on his own.
I really like the single tire track. Like Kathy, it makes me think the rest of the road got swept away in the first wave. In fact, it led me to my suggestion, which is to change the title to "After the First Wave", and add a second, larger wave approaching.
Or perhaps I'm reading too many news articles. |

So much to love in this image!
Wonderful colors and textures. The light/shadow of the background is in harmony with the lighting on the woman, in a way I have never noticed in an image before. It works so well!
I really like how the woman morphs into the tree roots.and how the colors gently transition to earth colors there.
This is such a thoughtful and emotional image, created from very interesting originals.
For me, there is some competition between the tree and her face. The tree is such a vibrant red that it continually draws my eye. Yet I also want to look at the haunted expression on her face. Both are about the same size. I once read that when there are two equal subjects in an image, the eye looks in the middle of the distance between them. I feel as if that is what is happening to me here.
Great title! She does not look as she feels safe at all sheltering in place, which I think is your point. If the tree represents shelter, making it less prominent might convey that.(Less opaque, a midtone or light color, a smaller size). If it represents the threat of Covid, perhaps it could become the most prominent feature.
Thank you for sharing such a compelling image!

A heartfelt image, Aavo, made more poignant knowing those adorable children in the pool are your grandchildren.
I don't have much to add to the previous comments other than how much I like your composition. Dividing the image exactly in half was a very effective choice.
Well done! |

Thanks, Betty! I like the idea of the thin line- it did feel like too much was getting lost in the shadows. |

Thanks, Alan! I really like the idea of the color emerging with the solidity of the paw. I will give that a try. |

Good idea, Brad. I'll give it a try. I do feel that I'd like to see the eyes pop a tad more.
And after reading Aavo's and Alan's feedback, I might try a bit of color in the eyes as well. |
