Great suggestion, Brad! I like this much better.
(The bird is just roughed in; I just wanted to see if it worked. ) |

Oddly enough, I have a lot of black bird photos at the moment. I will give it a try. I am wondering if the connection between the bird and the colors will get lost without the brush, but I will see how it works |

Thanks for the suggestion, Alan.
I do like it without the bird.
I'm not sure at this point if I like it better with the bird because I just do or if it's because I spent so much time getting the paint brush right. I will have to think about it. In any case, thanks! |

Thought provoking as always, Alan!
At first I thought the balance was among the boy, the chess pieces, and the pictures, and then I realized it was the boy, the bright ceiling, and the pictures, all framing the chess pieces. It feels very satisfying to move my eye around the circuit, wander into the center, and then go back around again.
The little happy apple is a charming touch of whimsy that perfects the balance of the composition.
The floor distracts me a bit; it feels just a tad bright and saturated to me . |

Very cool!
The car is perfect for the image. Its vintage and the wide angle really feel right.
The texture in the clouds in the distance adds to the feeling of it being a road.
I like the light trails of the other cars a lot. The red ones going off to the right do confuse me a little.
I agree with Alan about the cloud car being a bit to the right for the composition. I might consider simply cropping a bit on the left.

Very colorful!
I really like the rhythm of the red going up to the hummingbird and then going down to the girl. The swirl moves my eye around the whole image.
I am a little confused about what the red item is in the lower left corner.

This is really excellent, Aavo!
Personally, I quite like your proportions. I really like how their hands are outstretched - it makes me want to fill in their story. Are they going to shake hands? Embrace? Or is she looking down to something in her hand, and his arm is just swinging as he walks along? That's where I think your proportions really help keep everything interestingly ambiguous. The man's distance from the woman helps with this too.
I have to admit I did not recognize the large silhouette as a person until I read your description, but for me that does not detract from the image. It just struck me as layers in the setting, which I took as perhaps a cave.
Love the colors. |
