Thanks, Alan. I know exactly what you mean. I have a bunch of images that I know have a story just waiting to be told, once I figure out what it is. |

Thank you, Aavo.
I agree that the nest ought to be grounded on something. And it's funny, now that you mention it, the dinosaur does look a bit like a turtle. |

I quite like the phoenix idea! I will definitely explore that.
My idea was that the dinosaur was sort of the unexpected baby, the ugly duckling. I thought about having the head of a miniature version of the parent bird sticking out of the other egg, maybe having another little bird walking around, maybe making the eggs look a little different. But it seemed like a lot of work for not enough result, so I think I agree with you that the story here is too pat.
I do quite like the bird. I expect it will make an appearance some time in the future in a different incarnation. |

I love how you have blended the trees with the buildings and the streetlights. The stars are magnificent with the lingering color and light of the sunset.
Of your first versions, I personally prefer the sunflower. I found the face on the flame a bit difficult to see, and so found it a bit discouraging . With the flower, my eye seemed to sweep from the line of the streetlights through the arc of the star trail to the bird and the flower.
I love your third version with the bird and the star. Very effective to have reversed the bird. I like the addition of the street light on the tree on the right, as well as the straightened trees. The trees nicely frame the bird.
Excellent light on the bird! Perfect for the setting, and just enough detail.
Personally, I might consider cropping out half of the tree on the right, but that's just a personal preference .

Wow! A very strong image with an important message. The story is there at first glance, and then a closer looks shows details like the workman's shoe off and his gloves in the handrail, and the fact that even the impressive institutional edifice is in trouble. Great tension between the workman and the man playing the piano, enhanced by their being placed closer together, and at the same time emphasizing the isolation of the poor homeless fellow.
I admire this image so much I hesitate to make any suggestions, but I do find the people to have more contrast than the setting. Maybe that's an artistic choice. Personally, I might consider applying a bit of an HDR effect to the final image. |

A great Christmas image!
Wonderful depth of the landscape . I can feel the depth in your original but you really enhanced it even more. Perhaps it's the colors, or maybe the way you brought out the texture in the sand.
Gorgeous sand dunes! Love those curves.
Wonderful composition. You have so much in there but nothing is crowded, and there's a nice dynamic balance.
Love the star. I really like the trail too; it was clever of you to use the Christmas lights.
Perhaps a layer of the trail with motion blur at low opacity behind the lights would be interesting.
I'm sure this image brought a smile to everyone who has seen it. |
