I've got to admit I just keep coming back to this image. There's something about it I really find compelling. I was looking at changing the yellow/blue transition and accidentally came up with this different crop. A bit of a different take on it. |

I'd love to see any future versions.
Regarding blending modes, sometimes I need to have several layers at lower opacity in different blend modes to get the effect I want. Another thing to try might be to have a layer with the sky masked out by using select=>color range to create the mask. You can hold down the shift key when you use the eyedropper to extend the colors being selected, and then once the mask is done, use cmd+L (mac) or ctrl+L on the mask and use the white and black eyedroppers to refine your selection even more. Then you would have only as much of the clouds as you want. |

Personally, I love the blurriness of the bird and how it is so backlit that we see no details. It really gives me the feeling of motion, how when a bird suddenly flies by I have an impression of movement, but no recognition of detail.
I really enjoy the blue/yellow. It is very striking. For me, the yellow goes a bit too high at the far right.
I really like that you added the sun rays. I would consider having them pointing down under the wings to suggest lift.
I think your original with clouds is glorious. Personally, I'd include a bit more of them. It reminds me of the bird's destination.
This is such an interesting image, Brad. I hope you have a chance to experiment with it some more.

I don't have anything new to add except to say that the close attention everyone paid to this image speaks loudly to how much we all like it. Well done, Alan! |

This made me smile. There's something unexpected and charming about that adorable child and the goat both looking at me as if I interrupted them. The setting is unexpected as well.
I like the bird because its wings echo the goat horns.
I do feel a bit of a disconnect between the subjects. Perhaps you might try it with them closer together. |

Spooky!
I really like what you did with the setting - the color, the darkness, and the soft focus all work together to give that other-worldly feeling and spookiness.
I like your addition of the skeletons, especially the dog. If they had the same sort of softened focus and lessened contrast, I think they would have fit right in. |
