Thanks, Brad. This is out of my comfort zone, so it's very nice to get encouragement.
I think I would have done better to put the bird and the yellow green streak on separate layers so I could manipulate them independently. I do think the balance is off.

Thanks for your feedback, Aavo. I think the balance is off a bit with the bird, which might be part of what you're describing.
I'm still thinking about the SC Roundup. I'll let you know if I do decide to go - it would be fun to meet up. |

A truly beautiful image, Brad. I really like how you showed restraint in applying the luminosity and saturation of that gorgeous golden sky; it feels right at home in the mist and balances beautifully with the ship and the pool of mist in the lower right corner.
I really like the subtle variations in the landscape as I look into the distance. I feel that the glow behind the ship is a nice touch, both in reinforcing it as a focus point and in tying it to the sky at the right.
For me, the trees on the right are an important part of the composition. My eye just wanders off the right side of the image without them. Like Betty, I'd consider putting a bit more mist in front of them. |

I really like the composition here, both the triangle of the primary objects and the height of the walls and doorway. For me, the bare walls in the top half of the image really resonates with the empty frame and the blank wall the woman is viewing. It's interesting how you've made the door frames add to the balance of the image.
I don't have any suggestions beyond those given above.

Alan, your 3 original images didn't make it into my inbox. If you want to send them again, I can still post them. |

Hahaha! I can just hear that big bird squawking at the other two.
The orange beaks and feet show up very nicely against the green. I love those birds' body language and attitude.
It would be interesting to see it with the lower bird's orientation as suggested by Aavo.

Such a fun image! It makes me smile. I see how the original image of the cactus made you think of a creature. Adding the sunset sky was really inspired. I think adding the mountains behind the cactus works really well too. The nutcrackers' tracks in the sand is a nice touch too.
