This is a charming Christmas scene, Betty.
I really like how you subtly introduced the beautiful church window in the background. The substitution of the sky for the stable gives a touching vulnerability to the scene.
I like that you removed the canvas texture from the faces; for me, a heavy texture distorts faces and becomes distracting.
Having the texture on the figures but not the background is a little confusing for me.
I hope you also have a very Merry Christmas! |

Whimsical and masterly, Alan! I really like the way you tied the three segments together, with the numbered man in two of them, and the statue head looking at the numbered pair on the left. The gesture of the lady in the painting, looking away disdainfully from the rude numbered man, is a very amusing touch. I like how you used lighting to make it clear that she was the painting and he is the gallery visitor.
Very impressive jog on the easel, getting all the twining bits so cleanly.
Just a couple of nits. The man in black is lit a bit flatly compared to the rest of the foreground. Also, for me, the composition is a bit heavy on the left, so I would leave a touch more space there. But maybe that's intentional, to give that surreal sense of imbalance.
Really a great image! |

This is funny, Aavo! And it must have been fun to make.
I particularly like how everyone seems to be going about their business as if this is normal.
Great composition. Putting the 4 men in the foreground does a nice job of emphasizing the waviness, and having the upright man heading out into the background gives a nice contrast to the normality of the street beyond. |

Beautiful image, Brad! You have a great eye for light; you have handled it wonderfully here. This image feels completely real and lovely to me.
That colorful sky is spectacular. I really admire your restraint in your final image. Personally, I think more color in your final image would diminish the realism and lose some of the tremendous sense of peace. You have captured the feeling of letting go of the everyday world that a good backpacking trip gives, and of hope for what is to come.
I would not change a thing. |
