Now I know how Brad felt this month. He's asking "what chicken?" and I'm saying "what fish?" But I see it now, and it's given me a vague idea I might be able to use someday. Thanks! |

Yes, I think I got carried away with the sand.
In my view, the trees work because they do block us off from her, for me expressing that lost feeling. |

Hmm, I played with it some more, and quite like this version. Thanks for the idea! |

Thanks for your very interesting suggestion!
I played around with it. I do like the border as a frame for a larger version of her face, but I felt it diminished the feeling of being lost I was going for in this particular image. I'm going to keep it in mind, though, for a possible idea for a portrait frame. |

Thank you, Betty!
And do not despair, I have something more cheerful in mind for next month. |

Very clever, Betty! So whimsical and fun. I love the green of the smoke tree and the solidity of your friend at its base. It's so great that he is sitting there in a chair - does he know about the smoke tree behind him? Did he move his chair there to sit in its shade? Your images always have an interesting story to ponder.
I especially like how you kept the smoke trail on the right. It adds a nice touch of ambiguity.
Well done! |

The hand looked to me like a chicken opening its mouth to eat grain. I knew it was a hand, but interpreted it as a chicken. Sorry, I thought it was intentional, not just my imagination. |

Beautifully balanced and vaguely disturbing (in a very interesting way).
I especially like how the man at the far right is slightly cut off, implying an even longer line of identical worshipers behind the viewer. The blue and the gold contrast so well with the monochrome of the rest.
Excellent image, Alan!

This image made me smile, Aavo. There is something very charming about it. I like the way the lion is looking at the woman but obviously is not going to waste any time on a hopeless cause.
I don't have anything helpful to add to the comments above. |

Stunning composition! Love the colors. Beautiful blending of the images - you have created a very compelling, cohesive image. I love the sense of movement of that strange insect. I really admire the play of light throughout the image.
I've thought about this image a lot, and for me there is a bit of a disconnect between the shadow creatures. I think the chicken silhouette is very clever as a independent image. Looking at "Phobic", it feels as if there are two different stories taking place, one for the insect and one for the chicken. I can't see the story that involves both of them, maybe because the insect is flying away and the chicken is in profile. The title "Phobic" hints that maybe the viewer should be the one threatened, but since neither subject is facing the camera, it doesn't feel that way.
You might want to explore making a connection between the insect and the chicken.
All that said, I want to say that I think you've created a really stunning image.
