There are a lot of things I like about this image: the vibrant colors, the composition, the wonderful textures.
I especially love the translucent umbrella, which adds a real sense of delicacy and vulnerability.
There's a great 3D effect, especially with the chain and the orange humanoids.
It took me a while to sort out the story, but I don't think that's a bad thing. Also, I am a strongly literal thinker and it gets in my way sometimes.
You've created a great story here, in a very interesting visual way.
The humanoids on the left distract me from the drama of the storm trooper and the victim; I would consider moving them down a little bit.

I feel as if I am there; I can almost hear the birds calling and the foliage rustling.
Great composition and wonderful job of putting everything together. Very impressive colorizing of the dead leaf.
I love how the perspective of the image is elevated. It makes me wonder whether I am seeing this from a tree branch, or if it is a tiny hut. And maybe I should be very cautious, with the voodoo doll guarding the door.
My one suggestion has to do with the nearest leaves - they are so bright and vibrant that they distract me from the hut and everything in front of the door. I would consider darkening them a bit. |

So very fun!
Your granddaughters are adorable, and they look wonderful in this image. You even made their feet point down to get that flying look. Nice job with making their shadows match the balloons.
You are a brave man, taking their pictures against a busy background, but you did a great selection.
The balloon image is fabulous. So many balloons, and the nice scattering of distant ones linking the balloons on the ground to the large ones in flight.
Personally, I would lighten the shadows a bit, and crop the crowd a bit - they don't add anything and conflict a bit with the girls' size.
I'll bet your granddaughters love this image! |

So adorable!
Celeste looks very sweet. I love her intrigued expression, as if she expect the toy to talk back. The toy's extra-long arm adds a nice touch of humor and frames Celeste's face.
I like the red background.
I would consider a slight crop and a bit more brightness in the center of interest.

Lovely model, beautifully lit.
I think the pose works very well. I'm personally more inclined to more natural gestures, but this one balances so well that I do like it.
You have such great light in the background, I would consider keeping more of it. The crop feels a little severe to me with so much black. |

Great story! The cat does look very sad, and its expression really fits what was going on.
I like how you darkened and de-emphasized the background, and lightened the cat's face. It brings us into that great expression.
My eye does still go first to the top of the cat's head, because that is the brightest part of the image.
It would be really interesting to see the cat from a lower perspective, even looking up at it instead of down. |

An alternative to b&w is a desaturated version, again, masked in selectively. |

A very interesting subject!
I love the curve of the boat, especially how you can see fully into it and then it sweeps into a point.
I think the b&w works well.
I like the texture and grittiness and drama of the filter, but find that the boat gets a little lost to my eye because there is so much of the image in the same tonal range. Personally, I would have masked the filter in at a lower opacity. When I use a strong filter, I sometimes like it tremendously at first, and then want to back it off as the days go by and I keep coming back to look at it.
The attached has the filter masked in, as well as a curves adjustment masked in. |

OK, I'm jealous. I was on the High Line this past week and did not see this mural. I would love to have this shot.
I really like your crop and processing. There is something eerie about those eyes and their enigmatic expression. I like the suggestion of the buildings in the background; enough to put the mural in context, and not so much to become a distraction.
I would not change anything. Well done! |
