David, welcome to our group. I can see you will be a fine addition. Perfect selection of subject. Image sharp, well exposed, good color.
I have used off camera flash on wildflower photography to eliminate a busy background. In your image I would like to see a "horizon line" to delineate between the blocks and the reflection. Generally reflections are darker than the subject because only some of the light is reflected.
As to the little imperfection on the block, that doesn't worry me. Nothing is perfect. If there were white dots on the black background definitely eliminate them. The border is a nice addition.

Beautiful ethereal image! And yes, there are right angles in the dandelion. I think here the proper or right angle for the camera gave you a clean background and the right depth of field. Definitely a winner! |

Carole, love your sky! Much better. I also tried a moon but it seemed to compete with the pink spire.
Please let me know the sizing for pictures in the comment section. |

I checked my metadata & settings: 18-300 Nikoor lens, aperture priority, matrix metering, 1/10 second, f8 at ISO 5000. I braced the camera on the boat railing.
The lights on the shore were burned in some but didn't make much difference. Sometimes I paint with a brush at low opacity gray to dark hot spots but that didn't work either. |

Beautiful subject! Red, blue and green make it really pop. I think the halo comes from over-sharpening. The walk was worth it! |

This is a very interesting image. The right angles are sharp and prominent. I like the images Kerstin and David presented also. |

This is a great example of right angles. Flipping the image give us the feeling that the fence "continues on". We read from right to left. When there is a heavy object on the frame border the eye stops there.
I like Kerstin's suggestion. By having the largest post in the center there is good balance. It makes a stronger image. |
