This is a wonderful andmoving photograph. I much prefer #2 for the strong diagonal shaft of light which gives the photo more dynamism, but at the same time emphasizes your mother's concentration. The vignetting in#2 also is too much for my taste. |

The tree and woman make an interesting composition. The tree, however is a bit too interesting. It suggesgts a foot of a giant animal. It struggles iwth the woman for the point of interest. Still, I like [hoto alot for the simplicity ad the power of black. |

Wonderful color and rendering I agree with Mervyn. I think the pattern on the left half of the picture would make a picture with a better composition with a group of four circular discs and a half circle around that grouping. It would be simpler and easier to look at. |

Thanks for the comments. I have tried the suggested crop to the trees. I didn't like it and the reserved politeness of of others suggested they didn't like it either. The composition uses the foreground which is a triangular pointer to the trees which then carry the eye up to the vista or they hold the attention to the brighter mountains. The juror for the 2020 Maine Photography shoe accepted this print. (excuse the brag) Last year the juror did not accept the earlier version. Jen your analysis is correct. The Psubject is the Mountain range and not the river. Jack also sensed that last year, when he commented that there was too much in the picture. That started my exploring of different crops. Thanks for all the help |

This is a fine photograph--carefully and beautifully done. like the people in it. For one thing it gives a bit of weight to the left side of the picture and makes it abit less static, even though the architecture reallly calls for a center weighted composition as you have doen, |

The fourth partial post doesn't bother me. It sort of a frame. I would crop from the bottom and the right to take the horizon and the bridge more off the center. This is a gorgeous shot. |

I agree that the house should be lowered. I would cut about 3/4 of the foreground. I agree with Jack suggestion to crop out the partial house on the left. This is a beautiful image. |

Great shot. Beautifully done--capture and process. You could experiment lightening her face just a tad. |

This is very well done. I would try cropping the b0ttom just below the lowest dead plant on the right and crop to the left hand hill in the near background. |
