I was wondering if the high pass filter you used didn't create the interesting grainy look. I was a little perplexed looking at the picture because it didn't seem to have the noise pattern I would expect from a high ISO (at least that's not how the pictures look out of my camera at high ISO). There is a graininess to the picture, but there is something I can't explain about it and that is why I am wondering about the filter. |

I, too, have tried to capture bees at work; and you are correct, they move fast. As you noted, your shutter speed was slow because you were in shade. The bee does feel like he is missing something without his wing. You might want to try again on a cloudy day when you can avoid direct sunlight blowing out highlights, but you aren't in a dark shady area so you can increase your shutter speed. |

This is a nice portrait shot and nice job editing. I was really drawn to all the colors. My only thought would have been to get a wider shot to give more context to where she it, and maybe you have that one too. |

I am also looking into a replacement for Nik. I have two options McPhun Luminar and On1. Does anyone know anything about either of these programs. I've looked at both, but am not sure which I might prefer. |

Interesting idea. I have never done a composite picture, but am not opposed to the idea. |

I enjoyed this photo. I took this into LR and used the adjustment brush to make some changes just to the mountains. You can decide what you think. I used the dehaze slider. Added a bit of clarity and contrast and added a bit of warmth. |

I like the cart in there because it give perspective on size and distance. It also draws your eye into the frame, and for me to the distant fields. I like this shot. |

I love the composition of this shot. For me, I have a different taste in post processing. I pulled it into LR and made some adjustments to soften the look. I am also trying something new: I took a screen shot of my adjustments so you can literally see the changes I made. Whether you like them or not is up to you. It's personal taste. |

I agree with Mike that there are so many wonderful things to look at in this photo. If you hadn't said anything about using detail extractor on the hill, I wouldn't think it was necessary.
Side note: I am wondering if you have looked into any programs to replace Nik since I am hearing that people are losing access to it as systems upgrade and Nik is not. Has anyone looked into a replacement for Nik? If so, what do you like? |

What I like about this perspective is the symmetry of what I call the "main rock area". This rock area creates an upside down "V" with the fisherman sitting at the top point of the V. The only thing I might add to this is a slight vignette to draw the eye quicker to the center of the picture. Otherwise, nice job. |
