Great job. I have nothing I can add to this. You did a great job lighting the flower and creating the reflection. |

I am glad there are people in this world with way more patience than I have. It is a great first attempt and I would love to see more of these as you master the technique. I am wondering if a full frame camera would make it easier to focus (not that I am suggesting you go buy a new, expensive camera). What I have been told is that the crop sensor frame cameras don't have the best viewfinder for manual focusing since they assume people using these cameras are using the auto focus for everything. I have the Canon 70D and I have been a failure at manual focus the few times I have tried. Just wondered what you knew. |

I took it into Nik Color Efex and used the filters Contrast Color Range, Foliage, Skylight Filter, and Reflector Efex. You can decide if you like the results. I don't know how familiar you are with Nik. I have only been using it for the last few months, but have been able to spend enough time with Color Efex to get an idea of what my favorite filters are and what they can do. It's fun to experiment with mixing the filters to see what happens. |

Sometimes you just have to enjoy the photo you have. I also use my iPhone on occasion to capture sunset photos because it's all I have with me. I enjoy them and don't worry about the fact that they are not perfect. I was obviously a gorgeous sunset and you captured that feeling. Enjoy! |

I like the composition with the long exposure softening the water and the building placed in the upper left. I also think you did a good job with the processing. I am thinking you might want to take this photo again in the summer. I find the modern houses to be a distraction from the old building, and the houses would be blocked in the summer with leaves. Also, the dead leaves and twigs in the foreground isn't adding to the photo for me. |

The color version of this photo is fine, but I absolutely love it in black and white! The crop is great and really caught my attention. I agree that trying to remove the top of the finial is not worth it and it doesn't really bother me. Nice job!

I don't think you over processed this. I think it is nicely done. I do agree with Nancie in that I would remove the power lines. Once I saw them, my eyes kept getting drawn to them. Without a telephone pole in the picture, them seem a little out of place with the rest of the picture. |

Nice job! I have seen (and taken) many shots of Mt. Rainier, but this is unique. I love it. I also would like to know how you lengthened the rails. I may have to visit this area if I get back to Seattle. |

I am glad you have this shot. Oddly, my curiosity with this shot is the red building on the right. I keep wondering what it is. Whoever owns that building may one day enjoy having a copy of this picture as a memory of what used to be. |

Nice composition. Have you tried the Lightroom HDR option? It has done a great job with my photos at removing ghosting and is really easy to use. I just tell it to deghost my image, and it does the work for me. I have never tried Photomatix Pro. |

Nice shot. The small aperture made nice starbursts on the lights. There are nice reflections on the left side, but my guess is that there just isn't enough bright lights to get reflections or be able to bring out detail in the water otherwise. A longer exposure might have helped. I have learned to take a wide variety of exposure times when I am shooting at night because what I think I want (looking at the back of the camera) isn't always the best option when I see them on my computer later. I always take a 30 second exposure just to see what happens even if some things get blown out. |

Thank you for all the comments. I have been in Germany for the last 10 days, so I haven't had a chance to comment on anyone's posts yet. A few of you suggested I try to bring out more detail. I am not sure that is possible. The dark areas would be forest that doesn't have the sun on it yet, so I doubt there is any detail in that area of the photo. Someday, when I get a chance, though, I will try. |
