3 Jul 17 Comment Nice action shot. It would be even greater with a more narrow depth of field so that the subject "popped" out of a blurred fore and background. While f18 insures that the whole subject is sharp, it also insures that there will be no of the desired blurring of especially the back ground. Try an f of about 8. Thats a good place to start to get your subjects sharp and your other elements blurry. Jul 10th
3 Jul 17 Comment I have never seen burrowing owls and envy you! How far away were you? Was your lens at 400mm? I see the mother in sharp focus but the 1/125 shutter speed is not enough to get sharp images of the fast moving young. If you get another chance to shoot them, it would be interesting to try a more open aperture. (not wide open or part of the bird will be in focus, but part very blurry) f 8 is a good place to try. Since that will move the f stop 4 stops wider, the shutter speed will be about 4 stops faster yielding a moderately narrow depth of field shot at 1/1000 sec. Of courst the added advantage of blurring fore and back ground is another plus. Jul 10th
3 Jul 17 Comment Surprise ! The last thing I expected in July! Lots of beautiful colors, and the reflection adds interest. Jul 10th
3 Jul 17 Comment Very interesting perspective! I like the contrast between the very wide open blue sky and the earth tones with many lines of the tower. Jul 10th
