I see your problem. There is such a magnitude of difference between the sunlit Washington Monument and the dark inside of the NMAAHC that I still found the glare of the WM took and kept the eye. I don't know if a neutral density filter could somehow be used, maybe by cropping out the left side of the NMAAHC you could apply the neutral density filter to just the open doorway. |

I think it was brilliant to include the subject viewing the monastery. Made what could have been a very nice shot into a super one. Tack sharp detail, great lighting and shadows. Really a competitive image. |

Nice shot. I see that you ran into something that I see with my birds. When shooting with a very narrow depth of field, part of the bird is in tack sharp focus, while other parts are just a bit soft. Might try taking it with an f stop of 7 or 8, keep the fast shutter speed, but push the iso up as needed. With todays sensors and the editings de-noise software, that shouldn't be a problem. |

I had to look hard to see the other visitors and when I did, it gave me a very different perspective about the size of the elements-very much larger than I assumed. I have a hard time orienting myself to the image. The reflection which is split between the rocks on the left and the trees on the right took me a while to figure out. I like that about it. Makes me study it for a while. |
