Peter, you selected a good subject to show depth of field, but missed on the correct f-stop.
If you were trying to salvage the image you captured, I would put it on a larger black background and rotate it as Christian suggested, sharpen it and then crop off some of the really out of focus areas on the right-hand side. I believe that will transform your image

Hi Darlene, welcome to the group.
I enjoyed your oxbow bend image, but agree with Jim that the foreground needs some dodging to bring out more detail. The drama of the mono is outstanding.

Thanks, Christian. While the tighter crop better isolates the alter, my goal was to place it within the total church context, hence the wider architectural capture.
I appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks, Darlene. You raise an interesting thought about using the darken/center lighten filter. I may try that in the future.
While the original is definitely more colorful and attractive, the challenge is to best convey it in mono.
