Thanks, Allen. I thought it was good also.
I submitted the color version (original 2) to the Chicago Chapter Challenge, and was disappointed to learn that it was not one of the 12 images chosen from the 26 submitted.
It was one of my favorites, so a double disappointment.
I don't know what I could have done better. Any suggestions??

Excellent capture, Henry. The crispness and detail of the B&W brings it to life.
Well done!

Thanks, Jim. I also like both the color and mono versions. I was wondering if the final mono version brought out too much detail in the rocks, thus diverting attention away from the flowing water. You seem to confirm that thought.
Thanks.

Your final image is a great improvement over the original. Jim. You seem to have a magical way to interact with PS to make it bend to your will ;-). The straightening, contrast and monument enlargement look very natural, I like the way that you added a shadow to the lady walking.
Overall, very nicely done.

As a nature guy, I usually look for tack sharp images. I don't know exactly your vision for this image, but it seems to be very soft, except in certain areas. If you were trying for a sharper image, I would suggest a higher Æ’ stop for more DOF. I tried to put it through Sharpen AI, but it was too much out of focus to make a real difference. If you were trying for more of a soft, dreamy look, it is too sharp in places. So I am too confused on your intent in order to make suggestions.

You accurately captured the detail and feel of the shell. I feel like I could run my fingers across the ridges and sense the texture and growth lines. The increase in sharpness and contrast of the final version are a noticeable improvement.
Very nice, Allen.

Thanks, Marge. They are one of my favorite subjects. These two fully cooperated and are wonderful in B&W. Thanks again.
Jim.
