Good capture, Henry.
I like your comparison of the two architectural styles in a single image. I believe your vertical composition is best for the subject and the crop contains all of the important details. The exposure is excellent and the detail is outstanding. The clear sky background emphasizes the contrast and details of the foreground. There seem to be some dust spots on the sensor that could be eliminated to make the image perfect.

Thanks, Henry. Things change over time: skills, tools, processes; so the opportunity is present for improving our past efforts. Keep your eyes open!

Thanks, Allen. Although I liked the drama of the HDR color version when I originally did it, I now prefer the more balanced B&W version. I did have to go through the HDR process to get the rich blacks of the B&W.

I prefer the luminosity of the B&W image without the distraction of the colorful original. For instance, the colorful red, blue, and green lights throughout the image melt into the simplicity of white points of light.
Great image, Jim.

To me, the main subject is the interplay of the vertical and diagonal lines that define the outline, openings, and shadows of the structure.
I like the contrast lighter wall against the dark sky in your B&W conversation.
I believe Henry has a point with the distraction of the wall on the lower left-hand border. I think the tree shadows add complexity to the simple image and I am still trying to decide if that is positive or negative. Your thoughts, Michael?

I like the intersecting curves that emphasize the shapes, against the plain white background. Your excellent B&W conversion brings out the shading to show the detail and curvature of the support column. I originally thought that I was looking down the staircase, so I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I was looking up the underside of the staircase.
Good job, Peter.

I believe that your crop is perfect for the subject, Allen.
The subject is appropriately emphasized and stands out from the light sky background. The lighter sky is also contrasted with the dark rocky shoreline which provides a good background for the sailboat sail. The use of contrasting light and dark shades provides depth in the image.
Great crop!!
