11 Mar 22 Comment Excellent capture, Henry! I like the shadows and detail that you captured, to provide the viewer with grand landscape that you experienced. IR was the correct tool for this image. No suggestions for improvement.

11 Mar 22 Comment I can understand and agree with Lance's comment on keeping the trees on the right hand side of the image. I like your improvements to the original IR with the increased contrast and burn & dodge. I normally keep the crop on the foreground at about 1/3, approximately where you have it, so this would be more of a panorama with the right hand side included. Overall, good image Jim and an excellent processing of an IR image.

11 Mar 22 Comment Welcome to the group, Michael. I agree with the others that the image lacks a true subject and by cropping it, as Jim did helps the image a great deal.

If however you are set in not cropping, there are ways to guide the viewer's eye that improves the original image. In the attached I reduced the brightness of the sky as that draws the viewer's eye away from the trees. I also added a heavy vignette to bring the eye to the center of the image, and then applied burn and dodge techniques to emphasize the structure and detail of the trees themselves. With more care, I am sure that you could improve on the fast version attached.

11 Mar 22 Comment A sense-provocative image that takes a while to sort out the different planes, perspectives, viewpoints. Well done, Peter.

11 Mar 22 Comment I like your constant experimentation, Allen.

I think it is a beautiful image, but tries to cover too much area. I think it works better as tighter images with more contrast. I tool a stab at it with smaller samples from your mono image.

Your thoughts?

11 Mar 22 Reply Good comment from Jim. To me, the tree didn't look natural, but I may not have realized why until comparing it to the original.

11 Mar 22 Reply Thanks, Jim. I like your crop. I also like your 'bad haircut' reference. Yes, it is noticeable, but as you suggest with more care and attention to detail, it would be an improvement.

11 Mar 22 Comment Hmmm - I didn't think of that crop. Thanks, Allen.
