Thanks, Jim. I did clone out the fence in the final. So if some of the sky was cropped out of the final, that would be your choice?

I think that you captured the moment of action, Peter, with good composition, focus and overall exposure.
Most nature photographers I know would recommend your original orientation (facing left) so when most are viewing (in the same direction that they normally read: left-to-right), they will 'see' the head first, not the butt. Unless the composition is very unusual, I will always try to do this.
I like the overall exposure (darker skies), but felt the birds themselves could have a little more definition, without appearing unusual. In PS ACR I increased the shadows 20% and processed the image through my new best friend Topaz Sharpen AI (maybe too much sharpness!).
Your thoughts?

I really like the combination of lines and angles that you captured, Henry. The addition of the arched railing adds a bit of contrast to all of the otherwise straight lines, aided by the darker shade of the wet concrete. (I saw the bit of vegetation and saw it as another bit of contrast to the clean lines of the stairs, so it did not bother me.)
Overall, a very nice capture.

A great improvement over the original, Jim. I think your enlarging the bridge definitely made it part of the image.
Although you cropped it into the current form, I believe that you could still have enough subject matter to make two individual images - a human interest (foreground)and a landscape (background).

I think that you improved the image by making the background less identifiable. My concern is the lack of a transition between the foreground and background to make it more believable. With that addition, I think the overall image would be great.

I like the image, Allen, but did notice some softness in the image.
While a greater DOF would help before you take the image, I ran the image through Topaz Sharpen AI and was able to improve the sharpness (maybe too much) as shown here.

Thanks, Henry. I thought the foreground was too boring and took away interest from the subject, so I cropped most of it out, allowing only enough to indicate a base for the trees. Yes, I could have cropped the sky a little more and not lost much from the image.
