Tasteful and crisp image, Henry. I like that you simplified the overall design with the removal of superfluous distracting elements, and increased the contrast to emphasize the ironwork against the background. Good work.

Excellent capture, Jim.
You did a great job correcting the 16mm lens distortion with parallel lines in both the wood slats and the overall composition. I also like your final tonal presentation with the mid contrast level. Great image!

Great capture showing the power of perspective and vanishing point in composition. You also captured the diffused light and shadows well.

Excellent image, Allen. I love the subject matter and location and believe that you captured it well. I think Henry's adjustments improved it slightly, but only because you had done the heavy lifting. I like you reminding us in processing to saturate the colors before converting to B&W - - I sometimes forget to do that.

Thanks, Henry. It was actually selected as the "Best Nature Photograph for 2019-2020" by the Chicago Area Camera Clubs Association (32 member clubs) over 100's of other images.
I was quite surprised as I considered it OK, but not outstanding. (That is why I am in this group to 'better' my eye!)

A timely and thought provoking image, Sharron. Excellent job correcting all of the distortion.
I understand you not wanting to tackle the pipe. I was curious why you decided not to remove the three vents at the top, after you removed the two lower ones? I agree the two lower ones are more distracting, but I find myself keep going to the four upper objects. Do they provide balance and it would be too empty without them? Just trying to learn.

Thanks, Sharron. Its nice when they all cooperate! Then you just overlook the 20 images where they didn't.
Yes, the lens is quite the bear to move around. When using it, I tend to think of myself of less a photographer and more a full-fledged body workout participant. The whole rig with tripod, ball head, sidekick gimbal adapter, camera, 2x teleconverter and 500mm lens is about 18.5 lbs (around 8.4Kg) - - - as you said, a beast!

Thanks Allen. That biannual trip is one our joys in nature photography where you get to capture the images and have time to observe the interaction too.
