11 Jan 18 Comment Thanks, Jim. I like your crop and it is similar to what Marie was trying.

Evidently, it is a very flexible image ;-) with something for everyone.

11 Jan 18 Comment Some good ideas, Maria.
In reality, with perfect 20/20 hindsight, I should have gotten closer to the ground to dimish some of the open water. Live and learn.

11 Jan 18 Comment I concur, Marie!
As I was first looking at the image and then your comments, I couldn't understand your concerns. To me, it was a very well composed and exposed image with the lighter tones adding to the mystery. I really like it.

11 Jan 18 Comment While I like the image, Jim, I have a problem with the over-sharpening(?) as the clouds don't appear natural and there is a halo on the ridge line. I like the detail of the mountain, however, dodging and burning the structure of the mountain could bring out more depth which is confused by the mottled lighting.

Perhaps using a luminosity masking technique could improve the sharping and sky issues.

11 Jan 18 Comment I have never been much of a fan of high key, maybe because I never understood it well. Here, beside the texture study, I noticed the skin smoothing effect including the reduction of freckles, that probably overjoyed the subject ;-). Well done. Jan 24th
11 Jan 18 Comment I also prefer the color version, but if going to the B&W, I like the higher contrast of the first version as it brings out more of the detail of the petals and the dark stems emphasize the structure. The high contrast could be considered more of an art study rather than a nature shot.

11 Jan 18 Reply Thanks, Allen. I really have a hard time deciding between the color and B&W. I DO like the single image over the two separate ones as it highlights the fog in the background as it contrasts with the sharpness of the foreground.

11 Jan 18 Reply Thanks for your input, Tom. This wasn't a comment that I was expecting! I see your point that they could be two separate images and stand on their own. Thanks.
