I couldn't find your attachment, Allen. I am interested in seeing the results of your gradient treatment.

Excellent composition and tonal range, Maria. I too like the leading lines and shadows. I studied the darker version (original 1) and think the shadows are too much the same shade as the sky, which causes the image to lose its story, to more a study in light and dark contrast. I like your final version.

Jim, I like the subject and composition. I agree with the over sharpened background distracting from the image.
I was wondering if reducing the number of footprints would add more mystery/story to the image, sort of like a single set going in from the bottom right to the driftwood on the right and then exiting on the left. Your thoughts?

Driving the background white/light really emphasizes the structure of the iron sculpture. Agree with the vertical corp and making the detail in the background less detailed.

I like the texture and drama that the multiple exposures exploited. The lighting is striking and the detail in the sepal and pedals is outstanding. The dark background adds to the drama. Did you process it as an HDR in Lightroom?

While I think that Tom nailed the distortion problem, I really didn't mind your truncated version, as it corrected the distortion and filled the frame with the beautiful detail. Additionally, you didn't have the blank sky to contend with (of course you could have driven it 'black'/'very dark' and that would have been dramatic).

It is you and Tom that I should be thanking, as it was your instruction to do this prior to B&W conversion. I was just trying to put it into practice. |
