18 Jun 20 Comment I like the light use of the painterly filter while masking out the effect locally. It may have been fun to change the engine number on the left to 592 and see if anyone thought it was Harry Potter's train. Jun 9th

20 Jun 20 Comment I'm sorry, I forgot to say that I used multiple Topaz Studio 2 filters after my basic Lightroom editing. My Topaz routine is to use Dehaze, Precision Detail and Contrast before choosing a preset Look. Looks are always a combination of filters all of which are adjustable. I consider it Photoshop for dummies. In this case, I used a Look that I had previously created with AI Remix. I finished it with another preset of mine to add the stroke. Jun 11th
20 Jun 20 Comment In the past, I found myself struggling to submit a timely image. I always regretted the mistakes I made, so I've started working ahead. I am more relaxed and more satisfied with my images too.

In my mind I'll view this with a pink frame. I wouldn't crop it, but I'd blur the branch on the left and clone out the leaf on the bottom. The rose is beautiful, but doesn't appear painted to me. Perhaps the filter just increased contrast a bit to my eye.

20 Jun 20 Comment Perhaps a political statement was unintended, but I appreciate it. An excellent creative image and use of compositing. Jun 9th
20 Jun 20 Comment As always you've done an excellent job of compositing the multitude of images, but the girl looks pasted in and of course I would prefer to see her feet. Regarding the composition, if the background was flipped, the girl could be placed on the right looking in. As Betty said, the background could use more contrast.

20 Jun 20 Comment I think you created a very dramatic image. Immensely more appealing to me than the original which is very good.
I'd prefer to see the tower brightened and the fountain darkened to shift the center of focus entirely.

20 Jun 20 Comment I don't have a problem seeing your images and like your composition, blurring of the background, vignette and soft effects. Basically I like everything with one small exception. I'd like to see the figure on the far right more erect. Jun 9th
20 Jun 20 Reply I found rust heaven this March at the lone motel just outside of Death Valley, Amargosa Valley. It had an abundance of old mining equipment, vehicles and metal sculptures. Jun 9th
20 Jun 20 Reply At the time I did this I was experimenting with the full 16x9 mode of my Google Pixel 4XL phone, but I now fully agree with a crop. Thanks.

I now routinely make monochrome versions too, but contrast always needs to be increased. All the decisions are so personal and often change over time. I'm often reworking old images

39 Jun 20 Comment That looks like an interesting location.
I'd prefer to see the left cropped and the eye brightened a bit. Colorful birds are most appealing to me too.

64 Jun 20 Comment I revisit and still see a beautiful owl, but I'm curious to see the color version. That's always nice to see here. Jun 21st
64 Jun 20 Comment I agree with Stuart. I'd use auto fill on the branch before cloning it out. Jun 11th
64 Jun 20 Reply This is what I had in mind too. Jun 11th
64 Jun 20 Reply Yes, my best record shot in a difficult to photograph location. That's why I need to return.

Great find! I'll do something creative with that face and add it to my collection.

64 Jun 20 Comment I agree with this suggestion to crop the top a bit. Jun 9th
64 Jun 20 Reply Yes, I should have said I take the picture of my monitor with my phone and the app is built into my phone. It's an android but may be available for Apple too. Degraded resolution has never prevented the app from providing a correct response. It's great for identifying flowers and other plants too. Sometimes it offers choices because of similarities to other subjects.
Viewers of my vacation presentations seem to appreciate the added detail of knowing all the locations precisely. I add those keywords to my Lightroom catalog.

64 Jun 20 Reply I think you are right about toning down the Distracting ground just as Jerry does with his cropping. Thanks. Jun 9th
64 Jun 20 Reply I like your composition a lot, but my original better communicates the expanse of the display to me. Jun 9th
64 Jun 20 Reply No, the f stop doesn't matter in this case but I'm trying to learn without experimenting with my hand held routine.
Yes, your more panoramic view is very appealing too.

64 Jun 20 Comment I think you captured the mood as you intended with the miDdle ground mountain and cloud emphasized. I didn't recognize Half Dome because it lacks contrast, but I don't think that's important in this case. A slight stroke may have contributed to it. Jun 9th
64 Jun 20 Comment I really enjoy seeing all the detail. Very interesting.
When reviewing travel pictures without GPS, I have been very successful identifying locations And subjects using Google lens.
When I have an unidentified location on my monitor, I snap a picture of it and use Google lens. In your case with detail, you would need to use an image that is more of a Standard postcard view of the castle.

64 Jun 20 Comment Well done. I'd just like to see the lady's face a bit brighter.
The car. Reminds me of a newer Chrysler. Do you know the make, model and year?

64 Jun 20 Comment I think this is a very dramatic composition and I like the square format.
It looks to me that you applied an artistic filter. I would have preferred to see backlit detail and a slight white stoke.

64 Jun 20 Comment I think it's beautiful as is, but I'd find it more dramatic if it was cropped to a portrait featuring the main building and reflection.

I wonder if you could have achieved the same result at f8 and a shorter exposure? Maybe, someone more knowledgeable than me can answer that?

I am very happy with DxO Photolab 3 for noise reduction, because it enables me to hand hold shorter exposures at very high ISOs.
