Happy New Year!
Excellent use of Topaz in my opinion, understated. Beautiful, welll, composed!
I would return to that location and capture closeups of the van roof. |

Thanks again.
In the discussion above I have another image. How do you judge that one ( ignoring the signature)? |

I appreciate your comments from a judge's perspective. I assume you would prefer to see a simple stroke frame, if it was in competition correct?
How would you judge the second image (excluding the frame), vs. the first image?
I prepared these as prints for myself or for possible sale, thus the signature. |

Perception is what counts, nevertheless, I was prepared to guarantee this was one of his many baskets. I checked and saw the tittle of "seaform". Now, I have t make a new version of the frame with other adjustments.
Thanks for all your comments.
I'l be Submitting my creative version of baskets shortly. I'm Watching football now. |

Details. Details.
Yes, that doesn't look normal. When I looked at the original and saw the glow I mindlessly thought it would look good as a flame without thinking it through.
It is possible that the glass would be thicker at the top and there would be a strong backlight on the bottom. How's that for rationalizing it?
Are you bothered by the 2 lighter sections of the frame?. I've made a new version without them.
The figures, by the way, are Indian pictographs and not variations of signs of the zodiac. Chihuly calls this design an Indian basket. |

I think the composition and blending f images is excellent, but my eye is drawn to the bright area in the middle. So, I suggest making the peacock standout somehow while darkening that brightest area. |

Super!
I bet the neighbors aren't happy living near the red house though.
Now, the clouds appear to be mountains to me, and it's lines complement the roofs to my eye. I like the warm, happy colors too.
I repeatedly tell friends that we don't need more photos; just keep experimenting with Topaz! |

I think you have a beautiful creative image!
I found my eye drawn to the top though, so perhaps it would help to brighten the shoes in some manner and Darken the top a bit. |

I think both images are excellent! The gritty splotches are ok but unnecessary for me. I would just like the slight halo removed from the right edge of the rider. |

Wow! Fantastic! Don't change anything, just add a high price tag.
That software is news to me. I must take a look at it. |

2 beautiful images.
Perhaps adding a touch of clarity to the drop would make it more prominent?
I would prefer to see the bright area on the left dodged out to also keep my focus on the drop. |

Sorry for being so late. I was very occupied preparing 2 slide show for my club. One on the Chelly Gallery and a second more creative, both instructional. Anyone wanting copies can e-mail me jafunk1941@ Yahoo.com.
I understand your compositional dilemma and probably would have done what you did. I think everyone has images in which there are too many distractions that can't easily be removed once captured.
Regarding the brick detail. I think local application of clarity would probably work. |

If you have a RAW file. i'm Confident the blacks could be opened considerably. I think the wheels in the foreground are very important in this image and would benefit by dodging.
A perfect subject for monochrome and an excelent composition. |

Very nice. John Roach expressed my thoughts.
The water is important to me. I'd consider adding more drops to the bottom while taking out that one spot on the left. |

I like your second version best. The stone walls are too important to crop out. In fact I would locally brighten all the rocks a bit including those going out in the distance. |

Wonderful graphic image with a lot of compositional options. Straightening by Stan was important. |

I like the gleaming look of the metal. Jumps out, yet no blown highlights. Background is fine by me. |

The thought in my mind was,"what happened here to cause this unusual variability in its types of rocks." Then I thought, "I bet there is no where else in the world with that history." I felt very fortunate to be there.
A bit of trivia about Death Valley, I read that while its floor is below sea level, it's floor is filled with over 700' of sediment. That sediment continues to build while it is sinking faster than its building.
I think it's likely that this desolate location will exhibit an unusually large display of Spring flowers because of the amount and timing of rain over the past 4 months. I hope to see it the first week of April. |

I have visited almost all of the Nat'l Parks in the US. Death Valley has the greatest diversity of rocks species. At first its lure for me was Spring flowers but now I revisit to see the display of geological formations. Many colors are hidden by the extreme dryness, but those can all be revealed in post-processing. Unfortunately, you are left to use your imagination here. |
