43 Jan 23 Reply You can't control the background. I guess masking might work. Jan 21st
43 Jan 23 Reply There is no mortar used in this entire building. Jan 18th
43 Jan 23 Reply The jail and morgue are separate buildings. The jail is connected to the courthouse by its own "bridge of sighs". Jan 16th
43 Jan 23 Comment Thye texture and detail here are what is important. The exposure is spot on! I sometimes have trouble with the colors of red and purple in a photo such as this. You have done an excellent job with the color. I looked at Linda's new crop and I don't feel strongly about a new crop one way or the other. The crop does increase the size of the subject. I agree with Andrew about just part of the scene! There is a photography principal I read about that. The brain fills in the missing parts. That is why you can crop out part of a hat. Jan 16th
43 Jan 23 Comment A good eye! I expect you didn't use a tripod and at 1/125th second you wouldn't need it. What is interesting about this image is that the leading line is also the subject! That is where the color is, and it takes the eye out to the golden tones on the buildings top left and top middle. Well done. Jan 16th
43 Jan 23 Comment The subject is good and the exposure is good. Linda is right about the color of the leaves. The rapid flow of water on the left is good. I suggest cropping out some of the bottom right. I like the few leaves you can see upper right. I used the transform/warp tool and the spot healing brush. Jan 16th
43 Jan 23 Comment This is a very very good capture. Catching "behaviors" is the key to wildlife/zoo photography. I think Harry is on to something about the background. I am not sure what the answer is to that. It clearly needs darkened. Attention must be made to the eyes of the chimp on the right. The eyes are critical to a photo such as this. Jan 16th
43 Jan 23 Comment I think the Lord wants this to be a Mono image. It sets a mood and tells a wonderful story. The gulls are important to the image. There is even a reflection of one gull along with the reflection of the shrimp boats. Tones are good. Image would benefit from burning some of the blacks a little darker. Lane picked up on that. Harley is on to something about the sky. Sky replacement hurts the masts of the ships, I think. Jan 16th
43 Jan 23 Comment Bruce, this is excellent. During covid I started doing some studio work here at home. I can tell the planning that went into this shot. The leaning stack of coins does add so much interest to this photo. It is a real attention getter. The light and exposure are just perfect! Using older coins is excellent. That silver dollar is clearly the subject. Dust spots seem to go with the territory. I started out with a black cloth but switched to a black mat board. Jan 16th
43 Jan 23 Reply I think you are right. The two "offices" at bottom are actually the end point of another staircase. I think it best to crop them out. Jan 16th
43 Jan 23 Reply You are right about those windows. They were of course completely blown out. The two "offices" at bottom are actually the end point of another staircase. I think it best to crop them out. Jan 16th
