Some images are a "natural" for a square crop. This is one of them. It is a very good B&W. My eyes keep going to those claws. This bird is a predator. Considering the light and the long lens you used you got a very clear and sharp photo. The dark background behind the owl is perfect for this photo. This is after all a barn owl. That background also complements the whites and greys in the owl. Last, but not least, you have both the eyes and great highlights in the eyes. Good job. |

What caught your eye here? Why did you take the photo? The foreground and sky don't help the image. I expect it was the texture, color and windows. You don't often see a barn with these many windows. I am not wild about the roof - but there isn't much you can do about it. It is competing with the rest of the image. Maybe tone the roof down a bit? Maybe tighter crop on right? I do like those windows and the texture and color of the barn itself. |

Leo, you certainly picked the right spot to set up! The curved roadway adds impact, balance and a special symmetry. Excellent composition. I like the crop. The soft golden tones are beautiful. |

You certainly improved this image with post processing. I think the light house, the fence on the left and the sky are the best parts of this image. The fence is a very effective leading line. Yet, keeping that leading line results in a very large foreground of grass - nothing but grass. |

Remarkable image from a cell phone! Adding the background texture certainly calls attention to the subject. |

This image was impact, and the impact is immediate! My attention was drawn immediately to the woman on the right. Her expression is so focused! I think your post processing was successful in removing the background distractions. I think a tighter crop might be in order as Linda suggested. |
