Good shot of the Great White. The background is nicely obscure. I think any processing is not overdone, since for me the feathers are fine. I know because of it's colouration that it's difficult not to over-saturate!
Egrets have only returned to UK in the last 50 years after their feathers had been sought for the fashion industry. In fact we had one perched on a willow in our garden last week! It stayed for over an hour, even when I came out, set up a chair, and sat taking it's portrait! |

This shot may be a tad gruesome, but it's is an important depiction of nature, and therefore of great interest. I have had to look up the detail about these birds, since we don't get them in UK, and it seems that the often feed on dead prey. Tom has done some of their work by removing the tail, but that really isn't to my taste, so I won't make a meal of it!
My favourite pic of the round! |

A good depiction of this lovely bird. Almost oversharp in the feather detail perhaps? It was worth getting up early to take this shot! |

A good shot of this interesting bird. In UK, swallows are usually fast flying until they are ready to migrate, when they congregate on power lines, and difficult to photograph in flight! I think Tom's suggestions are useful adjustments. |

A super shot of the colourful bird as it balances on the slim branch. Lovely light in the eye. Good processing too! |

This is an unusual angle but no worse for that. A lovely clear view of the bird and it's plumage. Taken on a sunny day, which often causes shadows on the bird, but in this case the bird avoids such problems. An interesting image. |

Super catch of an attractive little bird. Caught just right in flight, the lighting is superb and brings out all the detail in the plumage. I remember an article in the PSA magazine explaining how to attract hummingbirds to your garden. Unfortunately, although I followed all the instructions but wasn't able to interest any making the trip across the Atlantic! |

I love the way that you have held the textures throughout. Subtle colouring too. I very much enjoy this shot! Maybe slightly darken the background on the left? |

This shows the young grasshopper to great effect, so much so, I might have been inclined to crop some of the red background a bit more to show the insect off in even greater detail. For an F4.5 image you have managed to keep it very sharp and interesting! Lovely shot! |

I love this one. The flower is nicely central, and there is some super detail in the stamens. Pin sharp where it needs to be, and you have created a beautiful image! |

A good abstract created, which lifts this shot above a traditional red-hot poker pic. For some reason the few small areas beyond the petals of the left irritate me a little, and
perhaps a slight crop off the left hand side would help? |

Wow, the bee seems to have transferred most of the pollen onto it's back and legs. The title refers to the bee rather than to the flower, so it is OK that the flower is out of focus, but parts of the bee are possible not sharp enough Perhaps the F number is a tad too small? I try to use F9 for this type of shot. |

I thought the description of your shot sounded a bit familiar, and then I realised that it is actually the description I have give to mine!
Good shot of the cosmos and the fly, although that cosmos is such a lovely colour it partly distracts from the fly's image. The background is quite interesting too! Colourful!
I hope Stuart can amend 'About the image'. |
