Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
21 Aug 23 Comment This is another bird that we don't see in the UK. I think it is fine without the base of the tail under the circumstances. I believe that trying to add part of the main image that isn't there would be unacceptable in most Natural History exhibitions, so should be avoided if an entry is envisaged. The face is beautifully sharp, so a crop to portrait as Tom has indicated works well, and if too small could be resized in something like Topaz AI without a loss of definition! Aug 14th
21 Aug 23 Comment Super clear image well captured! The seed in the mouth completes the image. Great! Aug 14th
21 Aug 23 Comment Nice bit of humour well seen! Maybe reduce the contrast a little. Equalize filter? Aug 14th
21 Aug 23 Comment Great capture in the perfect position. The focus is well handled with the background reeds and their reflection nicely soft. Superb! Aug 14th
21 Aug 23 Comment Well captured shot and a really colourful one too! The sharpness in the moving subject is commendable. Presumably since it was shot in a cave the lighting was difficult too. Very successful! Aug 14th
21 Aug 23 Comment The fascination of this group for me is viewing shots of birds that I have never seen in the UK. This is a great example of a wonderful bird that I never knew existed! Beautifully captured and most certainly keep the droplets since they are an integral part of the image. Aug 14th
21 Aug 23 Reply Here's what I found in New Scientist.
'Some bird species, such as the great-crested grebe, hunt underwater for fish and have red eyes. The red colouring is presumably beneficial to these diving birds.'

34 Aug 23 Reply I think it was the colour brightness of the original that attracted me originally. I do shoot with the vivid camera control so maybe this has caused a slight saturation increase. Aug 13th
34 Aug 23 Comment Love it. It is another of your wonderful composites. I can only admire the thought processes which have gone into it's creation. Is the shirt a little too bright? Aug 13th
34 Aug 23 Comment Another psychedelic selfie which I think works much better than some of your previous contributions in a very dramatic way. I agree with Jan though, time to move on. Aug 13th
34 Aug 23 Comment A very well captured original, and the addition of the masks to the black background is well though out. I possibly would have considered fewer so that a space could be left around the artist and the smoke. Aug 13th
34 Aug 23 Comment Some very clever work in creating this composition. I also love that original image. My only minor suggestion would be that instead of leaving the top section of the glasses black, to fill with a sympathetic colour! Aug 13th
34 Aug 23 Comment I immediately thought of the film The Day Of The Triffids, since the root is very like a Triffid. The space theme is perfect. The coral is beautifully captured and well suited to the final image. Rather than eliminate the foam bubbles I would like to see more of them to help fill the bottom half of the picture. Aug 13th
