Thank you for your comments Sharon. I agree that a bland sky behind the structure would have been better but it was only a fleeting visit so I didn't have time to wait. |

Thanks for your suggestions Debbie, I will have a go. Most of the mines in this area were underground and the wheels supported the cables that lowered the lift (elevator)that took the miners down the mine shaft to work and pulled it back up again. I think the coal may also have been brought out this way too although I am not absolutely certain. |

My initial reaction was the same as Stuart's. i.e the tree and the church compete with one another, which I can't quite come to terms with as I would like to see more of the church which I find very interesting and which, for me, is the main focal point of the image. I just wonder whether there was another angle that you could have taken this from which included both the tree and church, as I think you do need both, but which allowed the whole of the church to be seen clearly. Would taking it from a lower angle, slightly to the right, have allowed the branch to frame the church rather than cross in front of it? Or maybe the left side of the image could be cropped to make the tree less dominant? For me too, the church tilts and needs to be straightened. Having said all this, the image does have a very appealing quality, and there is a beautiful sky behind the church. Congratulations on the well deserved awards. |

This is a very appealing image. I like the colours and find that the delicacy of the foliage contrasts well with the bland industrial buildings. If anything, I'd be inclined to crop the right hand side so that the industrial buildings are even more prominent. It shows another side, i.e. some of the industrial heritage, of our beautiful National Park. As you say the weather for IR is perfect but we just can't get out there to take the images. Very frustrating! |

I think I prefer the original composition with the person left in but with the pole removed. By leaving the building to the left of the frame my eye is then led through the image to the small building in the background which I think adds to the image. I like the feeling of space that this gives. I notice that there are two slightly lighter areas in the sky, one to the left and the other to the right of the columns, that don't seem to appear in the original so I wonder if this is the result of your processing.I also find the contrast a little harsh and wonder if it was possible to take this down a little. I do like the fluffy cloud above the building and feel that there is more to be made of this image. |

What strikes me most about this image is the beauty of the foliage. It almost has an ethereal quality, maybe assisted by the Glamour Glow treatment. For me this quality would be lost if you increased the contrast, but this is purely a matter of personal taste. I could look at this for hours just admiring the wonder of nature. Lovely. |

This image leaves me feeling that I would like to see more of the gazebo which is the most interesting part of it. I too find the out of focus branch in the foreground distracting but I like the shadow that it creates and feel that if it were sharper then it would nicely frame the gazebo.I agree with Helen that more contrast and sharpening would help and I also think that it is worth taking again. |

This image is very atmospheric. The path provides a strong lead in line and I like the glimpse of the handrail/bench through the trees in the distance. It makes me feel that I would like to walk through the wood to find out what lies beyond. The toning you've used is very sympathetic to the image. I cannot suggest any way of improving it. |

Thanks for the suggestion Terry. I had not thought of trying to use transform to correct the perspective but its a good idea and I'll have ago. |
