Hello Terry, welcome to the group. This is a very pleasing image with lovely textures, particularly in the wall, and great contrast. This is a very distinctive and appealing style of architecture. I visited the Taos Pueblo in New Mexico a couple of years ago which has a similar architectural style but unfortunately I didn't have my IR camera with me. The sky is beautiful, I just wonder whether it would have been possible to shoot the image from a lower angle to eliminate the branches at the top centre and left of the image. |

This is a very unusual and creative image, it's the kind of scene that many of us would just walk straight past. I love it! Taking out the items on the left side as Beverly suggests seems to me a good idea as it does place the emphasis more on the boots. I also wonder whether you looked at taking the boots from any other angle, for example from a lower position? Having said this it is a very strong image just as it is. Congratulations on the award. |

This image really typifies Cambridge. Unfortunately when we visited the city a couple of years ago it was in the middle of winter and we could not find anywhere to access this view as the college grounds now seem to be closed to the public. I had been looking at some of Ann Miles' IR work and had hoped to take some similar shots. Seeing your colour versions of IR images I am becoming more and more persuaded that colour is the way to go. The Weeping Willow in the foreground is beautiful, as are the other trees. For me the composition is all about the river, the bridges and the punts so I wonder whether you need the building on the left but that is purely my taste. A superb image. |

I think this image has immediate impact, the intricacy of the ferns and the pattern of their shadows is very appealing. I agree with Sharon about cropping a little off the top to remove the bright spot but otherwise I think it is a lovely image, worth trying in a competition maybe if you haven't already done so. |

I find this image a little busy and my inclination would be to turn it in to a portrait by cropping out the right hand side although I admit you would lose some of the interesting vines if you were to do this. I like the way you have added in the sky but there is what looks to me like some silhouetting around the trees in the distance, I don't know if this is a result of putting in the sky. I like the shadow underneath the seat and maybe by cropping a little off the base as others suggest would make this more prominent. |

When I first looked at this image my immediate reaction was that I would like to see more of the bridge but then I read your explanation of why you had not been able to do this. It is a shame but so often the case that interesting structures are covered with scaffold or other construction equipment. As for the image as it stands I like your composition and the colours and I think the bridge works well as a backdrop. I agree with Helen, you have done a great job on this. |
